We haven't used our fire place for a few years as we had very mild winters and no wood, but this year we were given left over wood from the building site next door and pallets and a fence from my sons place so we will prepare the fire place so we can use it again.
It needs a good clean but before I do that I lit a small fire to warn anything that was living in there to move on, always worried about spiders if something hasn't been used for a while.
The dolls all have their winter hats on.
and the quilts are unrolled on the beds well on this one anyway.
mine is still rolled up but I did put a extra blanket on.
and guess where I spend the night time, curled up on the lounge watching TV, nice and comfortable, only one window open and that is shut at night now, the weather is cooling off.
The house on the corner is going well, but some of the walls don't look 100% straight to me but that could be my eyesight as it's a bit dicy at the best of times.
This was late yesterday, today they are tiling the roof, will take some more photos in a week or so.
Winter? Nooooooooooooooo!

I agree you get sick of the cold quickly.
DeleteMerle.............
Looks like you are getting well prepared for winter. That house across the street is looking good, Merle! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI don't mind the design but the land is tiny smaller than ours so not much left for a garden.
DeleteMerle.............
My crooked eyes wondered about those walls too.
ReplyDeleteCooling down here too. We are only just going to reach double figures tomorrow.
Brrr it is getting cold and early too.
DeleteMerle............
It would be a laugh if the walls turned out to not be straight and you noticed it first.
ReplyDeleteTo tell the truth the beer fairy pointed it out to me first, he has a straight eye mine not so good, but i could see it once he mentioned it.

I'm happy that you put winter hats on the dolls. I have only one doll and she gets a jacket, bootees and bonnet for the winter. The stuffed monkeys all get a jacket and my favourite, Harvey Banana, gets a scarf too when the days are frosty.
ReplyDeleteI warmed my hands over your fireplace for a minute, I love a fire, but don't have one. I did turn the aircon on tonight, to make sure it is working well, ready for the really cold days.
Thank you for the photos, I love seeing houses go up.
I'm glad other people have dolls and toys, I'm ready in case I have grandchildren, but actually I like them and the cats like to cuddle up to them.

It's that middle season. Still in flannel and the goose down on my bed, though it is spring, and a mighty cold one.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you will have a Indian summer, long and hot.

ReplyDeleteLove a real fire... is it possible to have flame envy? That house seems to me to be going up at a rate of knots so wouldn't be surprised if a wall or two were out of plumb! YAM xx
Nothing beats it, the crackling pine and the smell of woodsmoke,
Deleteit is going up very fast.
Merle..........
You're preparing for winter and we are trying so hard to get spring to get going. There's a crabapple tree off my patio that is usually in full bloom by the 10th of May and it barely even has buds yet. I'm really getting antsy to throw open all the windows and let some air in!
ReplyDeleteI have just heard on the radio we have snow on our mountains down south and on our side out west so the cold is coming, I hope our winter is not as cold as yours was, yours was a shocker.
DeleteMerle.......
I always love the warmth of a fire in winter. Glad you have some available wood this year.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean a indoor fire is very cheery.
DeleteMerle.........
Wish we had a fireplace. It gets quite chilly in NZ where I live.
ReplyDeleteI have been to the north island a few times, in winter it is chilly there, are you north or south.
ReplyDeleteMerle.........
In the North ... wishing we had a fireplace.
DeleteHaving a fire going in the fireplace will be nice and cozy in the winter. Your dollies are cute. Have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteHow cold does it get in the winter? I've always imagined that it stayed hot there all the time.
ReplyDeleteJen
It will be wonderful to use the fireplace...so cozy by the fire.
