Friday was our Anzac day, [Australian & New Zealand Army Corps].
Here is my dad, he sent this to my mum in the war, she wrote to him all through the war but they didn't meet until after it was all over.
My little deck that my table stands on has fallen apart so I'm replacing it with peebles' Drummy always helps well she is company in the garden and eats all the bugs that are hiding under things.
This is my first idea not enough pebbles.
Something happened outside, she is such a busybody, see those claws she is letting me know she is looking at something.
I spent today cleaning up the garden and putting everything back together.
It getting dark early now, it's only 4.30pm and the camera is using a flash but it's been a dull day and we are getting a few drops of rain so time to go inside.
Leroy has the right idea sleeping on three cushions, super comfortable
This was my mum and dad just after the war before they were married.

ReplyDeleteFabby fotos of your dad and mum. My father handed me a tin of oldie pics the other day so must scan some in...
Drumstick did well helping - that gravel looks great. The shots of you and Mal are wonderful - nice to see you, to see you nice!!! YAM xx
Drumstick is good in the garden but she eats all the worms but I have a worm farm so I will load it up with worms so I have some.

Your mum and dad are a handsome couple!
ReplyDeleteI love the pebble paving idea and I really like the way that tree branch shades almost the whole yard.
That's two trees the birds dropped the seeds and they grew together and they shade at lot of the yard in summer but lose leaves in winter to let the sun in.

Love the photo of your mum and dad. And of you and Mal. Very comfortable - nearly as comfortable looking as Leroy.
ReplyDeleteAnd, as always, the garden looks lovely.
Mal is comfortable I'm not so.

ReplyDeleteMost afternoons are spent in the garden.

I love to see old photos like these! I'm doing garden clean up today, but our garden looks nothing like your lush hideaway!
ReplyDeleteThe claws made me wince.

They make me wince too.

I always love seeing your garden. I have also been working on some garden clean up around here. Trying to get things planted/organized. I must say that I think you favor your father!
ReplyDeleteHim and I are blonde and my sister took after my mum with darker hairand she is much smaller than me.
DeleteMerle..........
Great photo of your dad and the pyramids. So they had not met when he went to war? Too early for E-Harmony.
ReplyDeleteI surpose it was like E-Harmony only done with letters not a computer.
DeleteMerle................
Awwww... the photo of your dad and mother is precious! And your garden is always so beautiful - I wish I had your green thumb :)
ReplyDeleteThe green thumb only works sometime other things I kill with out trying.

Fabulous post - I love your outside garden areas, and your handsome Mal. Drummy is so sweet - how nice that he helps you out with the garden! haha And what a beautiful photo of your mom and dad!... Donna

Your garden is really beautiful, Merle! Mal is a beauty and a good helper in the garden I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteShe is great when she she eats snails but she also is very fond of worms but I now have a worm farm.

I love the garden So private. I am hoping to get a fence up soon. I love the enclosed look its so comfy. The tree is awesome I would string thousands of fairy lights through it.
ReplyDeleteJanice
I once had solar lights in the trees but the cats would knock them out so I pulled them down.

I enjoy your backyard stories. And the animals who roam freely. And that tree! the story of your parents is interesting. Sounds like they were sweethearts and pen pals.
ReplyDeleteThey were pen pals for a few years before they met.
DeleteMerle.............
You will HAVE to blog more about how that-all worked. They wrote but didn't know each other? Amazing it all worked out as it did. I love the old pics. :)
ReplyDeleteThe trouble is there are so few photos as in those days they were expensive and lots of times they didn't turn out but I will have a look and see what I have got.
DeleteMerle............
This is a cute picture of you and your cat, Merle. I really liked the black and white picture of your mom and dad. I took a black and white photography class, and there's nothing prettier to me than a black and white photo. You can treasure your mom's picture forever.
ReplyDeletelove,
~Sheri
I like the older black and white photos they have a softness about them.

I always like looking at pictures of your garden. I wish I could have all that greenery but your climate is so much milder than ours. Is Drummy ever afraid she'll be dinner? My chicken coop is finished except for the painting but it's been too cold to paint. I work on getting the stones out of the big garden space every day so i can plant by June 1.
ReplyDeleteNo I couldn't eat Drummy she has lived with us too long and worked her way into our hearts plus we don't know how old she is as she wondered in off the street.
