Just hanging around the house and checking out the the new house.

It was a sewing week Angus got a new cover for his mattress and a blanket to match.
This doll a new dress, jacket and hat , she gone all trendy of cause she has little hair at one time my daughter must have been considering a career in hairdressing as a few of her dolls are a bit short on hair.
this one only got half a body, I can't remember if she ever had any more but I will give her a bottom half with legs if I can figure out how, maybe she never had a body just a head and hands, lots of make up so I think I made the top half, I think they are surposed to be boobs but got a bit flat over the years.   .
I made two new pillow cases.
Then wondered outside to get a picture of the new house on the corner, this is from my backyard. .
This is with the zoom on, glad I don't live next door, they would look straight into my back yard, no more nude sun baking or naked rain dances.
These are air circulators for a roof conversion, they work pretty well there is three but you can't see the other one from my place.
Where is the truck tyre all gone this stuff grows well.
But my lemon tree is not well, what is wrong with it.
This is the corner house from the front that wooden structure is I think a toilet, normally you hire a port-a-loo but they didn't, I pretty sure they have a bucket inside, it's a bit of a worry.
The house itself is shaping up nicely.

Not sure why these two pictures of my loungeroom are here but I have been thinking about getting the floor done it's never been vanished but it's such a disruption.
Oh I  recovered this little chair

 To brighten it up

  1. The new chair cover is lovely and bright, I like all the other sewing projects too. I really must get busy with some sewing myself. I hate that most bedsheets these days don't have enough length for decent tucking in and I'm going to buy some cheap polycotton and add a metre to the bottom ends of all my sheets.
The house on the corner is looking good, it's pretty big too.

    1. I usually buy my sheets separately no sets, I find I can mix and match colours and they seem a better quality but make all my own pillow cases as I like pure cotton ones.
I know what you mean sheets are getting smaller and beds getting bigger.

  2. WOW you were really in the sewing mood and what versatility too. Sewing doll clothes to recovering chairs..... also pillow cases. You are a wonder woman. Is that floor just raw wood? Some of my floors got ruined when the pipes burst this winter and my son keeps telling me to get it sanded and varnished or they will get ruined. I don't have time for that mess right now. Are yours OK without varnish?
I enjoyed your pictures as usual. That house is immense.

    1. When we bought this house 20 odd years ago it was carpeted and we had dogs and even though they didn't come inside much the carpet was a mess in a couple of years so we ripped them up and vanished the bedrooms.
The guys who did the floors were going to come back and finish the job but that never happened so the lounge dinning room bathroom and hall have been untouched for about 16 years, they are fine but they do need cleaning more often, I have found no problems but it all depends what they are made of my floors are almost 100 years old

Ugh - you with floor polishing to think about and me with a new carpet cleaner and never getting round to using it... too much effort right now... Love all your projects. Wish we were neighbours!!! I'm good at making tea and cakes - fair swaps? That new house is looking very 'by the numbers' so I'm glad you are not right beside it too! YAM xx

  5. Crikey, that new house looks huge!
I like your raw wood floors...ours are reclaimed wide plank, with a hideous colour varnish.I'm debating stripping and leaving raw colour or painting...I can't decide.

    1. The thing I hate is the moving all the furniture and the fact that when it is finished it's hard to rearrange the room as it scratches so easily raw wood doesn't mark as much.

  6. You have been quite the busy sewing bee :) Your chair is fabulous and the color is very happy. Plus your pillowcases are wonderful!

I think your wood floors are pretty. I grew up in an old cabin with really old wood floors and so they bring back sweet memories - I like the rustic look.

    Have a wonderful weekend, Merle!

    1. Well it is winter soon to cold for nude activities and I'm sure the neighbours would complain if I did.
Angus had two dogs visiting him for a couple of weeks and they slept on his bed so he wasn't happy about that so thats why I recovered his bed but the blanket is just because he is so lovely.

  8. My downstairs floors need refinishing, too, and can't bring myself to the point of moving the furniture and using all the back doors for three days.

  10. You have been busy. And productive.
The new house is BIG isn't it.
Too cheap to hire a porta-loo is a bit of a worry though. I wonder whether they cut some other corners too?

    1. It's going to be huge but on a small block of land.
I think a lot of corners were cut but it seems anything goes now, the guy that lives next door was not happy about a few things that was happening so he had a talk to the council and they were not interested, maybe these new houses are increasing the land values and they can charge higher rates so they are not to worried about the details.

  12. Well, you've been quite the busy bee over there! I used to cut my dolls hair all.the.time. No doll was safe from my scissors. I also like to give them chicken pox marks on their faces and pretend they were sick:)

That sure is a huge house! Here we call them "McMansions"!

  13. wow you have been busy, lots of sewing!!my daughters dolls all had haircuts and to be honest mine did too!I have a chair that needs a new cover, its all torn, I shoudl give it a try, I hope your lemon tree recovers, must be great to have lemons at home. I wouldn't worry about varnishing the floor, the stink from the varnish all most did me in! lol, and what a big job! Your floor likes good just as it is,

    1. It's not too hard to cover a chair, easier if the seat comes off, that one has a detactable cover on the seat that can be washed.
My lemon tree is still to produce a lemon, I get flowers then they fall off, no lemons.
If I vanished the floor I would move out for a few days, the smell makes me sick too.

  14. Merle,
Now, I liked this post a lot because I have always loved dolls, especially handmade cloth dolls. I can relate to the doll with the short hair cause I may have cut my own Barbie's hair at one time, but not sure haha. How nice that you kept some of your daughter's dolls. I only have a couple of the girls, and I will treasure them.

    Have a good weekend, Merle.

    love,

  15. Wow, you do have a lot of projects going at one time. I seem to only do one thing at a time. I seem to lost my ability to do multi-tasking! That big house they are building by you reminds me of one they built by the house we used to have in FL.

  17. The new house on the corner looks like a house they would build at the beach!! It appears to be huge. Really like the roof out of metal! When we have to reroof our house- I want to use metal instead of shingles. You always stay busy with projects!! I have too many projects that I want to do - but never have the energy!!

  18. That chair makeover is fabulous!!! Re: the 3D piece I showed, I think it's dried flowers in front of the windows, but I wish it was cats! Then it would be just like my house! haha
