Budget night, A few days off and my firebox.

Firstly our government put forward our budget, it's a slash and burn budget maybe they will get their fingers burnt and then cut off, lets hope so then I can sit and smirk like some of them have been doing lately, enough about politics, they call them fat cats here I think that is very insulting to the cats.
I been a bit lazy and not been on line much lately, not sure if I have flu or just bogged down with hay fever, well I'm feeling better now so time to catch up.
This is my Mothers Day gift from my daughter and her partner, it's just what I wanted.
That's a little Bar-b-que on top with handles, so easy to keep clean, it fits in my sink and is not too heavy not like my other one you need two people to lift it.
Just enough room for two steaks.

Most of the sitting area is paved so it's nice to have a heater in winter but our weather has been unseasonally warm the last couple of weeks but I'm ready for the cold.
This is Drummy gate,  I haven't  been letting out till 10am now as she has been laying eggs in different places and it's a treasure hunt to find them.
and  a lot of my garden is prickly who wants to search under these things.
 We are not happy
This is her night time area, Kidney the cat sleeps in the hen house when the gate is open not sure if Drummy uses it, i think she sleeps under the sugar cane.
Next door planted these mature trees, they had a small backhoe and a half a dozen guys, there is about seven of them but they getting a lean up so maybe they are not bedded in with enough dirt, lets hope they right themselves, I think I was holding the camera at a bit of a angle because it is quite a lean.

  1. What a wonderful gift!!! thats a great BBQ, it would be perfect for Garry and I, and a patio heater, perfect!!! I was wondering if the cat hurts the chicken? I take it it doesn't because it sleeps in the hen house, thats is the cutest thing I have ever heard, it must be quite a job finding all the eggs, like an Easter Egg hunt only everyday!!! A

    1. Yes it is a good size and I still got the big one for crowds but we don't get to many of them now.
My cats are all a bit scared of the chicken, she is a very forceful personality and we only get one egg a day so that's not to hard to find .

  4. Do those trees affect your garden with changing the light? Your garden by the way looks lush and beautiful! I too have been feeling blah...a bit of everything I suppose. And I love that bar-b-que! What a convenient size! Wishing you well friend! Nicole

    1. At the moment there is no effect on the light but when they grow I'm not so sure we will have to wait and see.

  6. I love your fire pit barbecue! What a great idea, just big enough for two.
I think those new trees should be braced for a couple of weeks while the roots settle.
    Hope they don't fall over.

Like the others I love your little burner - superb to extend outside sitting in the cooler months!! Isn't it strange how our animals will never stay in the purpose made products for themselves, but will happily go to the others'? Sorry you were under the cloud for a bit but you did the right thing to take time out. Nice to see you again though!! YAM xx

  10. the little portable bbq will be much used, especially I'd read on another post I'm sure about you getting a lot of scrap timber to burn off...or will you use coals? BBQ's are great and if Drummy helps out you can do bacon/eggs on there for Sunday brunch too

    1. Yes we have a lot of timber from the house next door being built and my son pulling down his fence

  11. That is so cute, I want one...but then it would probably catch our trees on fire, and then the house would burn down...and well you get the picture.

How cold does it get there?

  12. If you don't build the flames up to much you would be ok .
At the moment we are having record warm days for May about mid 20'sC which is very nice but in the winter months a bit colder but no snow.

  13. Merle,
What a nice Mother's Day gift from your daughter. You know, I think those smaller barbecues are the best kind. We use a smaller one also. It's always a delight to see Drumstick. How funny that she is laying eggs in different places now.

Have a peaceful weekend, Merle, and I hope you feel better.

    love,
    ~Sheri
