Just a bit of rambling on and the house next door.

Here is my little miss destructo enjoying her special patch of dirt, the beer fairy has mowed the lawn out the front, well it's not our lawn it belongs to the council, the nature strip, it belongs to them and they don't mow it but if you plant anything in it they don't like,  out it comes and they expect you to mow it but I'm getting side tracked, he has just dumped all the cut grass in Drumsticks patch and she is having a lovely time but their is little light to take a picture now and my camera that takes good low light shots has gone on strike.

This week I put in half a picket fence, sometime I need a area that I can keep Drumstick confined, I have found she likes to drink paint and she can be a bit of a pest if you are painting something as I want to paint my garden chairs red, so now I have a area to confine her, there was a hole in the old fence and she would just climb through.
The two green ones need a new coat, I'm keen on red at the moment.
Not much has happened to the fish pond at the moment maybe next week.

But the house next door is going ahead in leaps and bounds this week all the brickwork is finished and they have started on the roof maybe finished by Christmas.
I'm all over the place this week .
Not following a theme at all.

This is the front area of the house it goes right across the block but I don't mind, I just didn't want a two story place next door but it sure is a big house.
Most of the internal timber work is done now boy am I sick of the sound of a nail gun and the sound of a electric saw.
This is Pidge's cage or whats left of it, he only went in it to eat so there was no point in having it both him and Drumstick have found places they want to sleep in, in the backyard no cages for them.
I just found a tomato vine in with the beetroot and silverbeet.
And these little fellows have struck I got three out of six so thats pretty good.
This is my back yard taken from my backdoor, now I have a 4bedroom house and my rooms are on the big side and there is the jungle up behind the fence that I showed you last week.
But these two pictures show you how much ground is left in this building next door.
They have about as much room as I have in the jungle, it is a Macmansion of sorts.

Do you think she has put on weight she looks much healthier than when she first arrived. She likes to stand on one leg a lot or sits on your foot she is having her chat to the beer fairy.
S
And this is where the eggs are, i just leave one here all the time now so she doesn't change her spot.

  1. Drumstick seems to have it made there, running around the place like she owns it. She probably does, right? She is cute. I am sure you will be very happy to have the house done next door. Some peace and quiet! Have a happy weekend!

Drumstick is indeed looking very well and very happy - and why wouldn't she? She landed on her feet when she moved in with you. Nice looking egg too.

    2. Odd to find a chook that doesn't like greens. Have you tried giving her the silverbeet? Even just the stalks that you cut off and don't cook. Most chooks love silverbeet and spinach.

  4. Wishing for you peace and quiet in the New Year after all this work next door! It is a wonder Drumstick is willing to lay an egg (and yes, she looks healthier).
Ironically, our next door weekend neighbour is contemplating remodeling his cabin shortly after the New Year...sigh...
    Merry Christmas Merle!

    1. Oh dear it is fun listening to all the noise and the dust it's everywhere but it does give your property more value or so I'm told.

  6. That is a big house next door. In one photo it looked like it was really close to your house, but the next photo looked like more distance. I painted 6 benches this summer, also. Red will be a good feng shui color. I painted my doors red but I used white on the outdoor benches.
A paint guzzling chicken. Better be careful or she'll be laying red eggs. Haha

  7. Hello there Drumstick! You are getting new neighbors soon, Merle? It looks like the house next door is coming along nicely. It's always so nice seeing your garden and back yard. It looks like you have a big area to plant your flowers.

I hope you are enjoying the Christmas season.

Drumstick looks funny standing on one leg.

    1. I would imagine a bar-b-que area and a paved part and maybe a few plants, that's all they have room for.

  14. That's quite a house going in next to you. I'm guessing you will be thankful when it's finished and the noise is gone. I like the picket fence you installed -- looks cute. Hopefully it helps to contain your chick! Have a merry Christmas!
