Mal is just not interested.
The one and only snowflake that I would see at Christmas.
We have our christmas stockings up but not exchanging gifts this year we all agree we have enough stuff we don't need any more, I think I will always put money in the salvo's box every time I see one all year round instead.
If I turn the light on I have to move the santa hat as this is one hot light that's why I very rarely use it.
Where we usually have xmas dinner here but this year we are going to my daughters place.
My tree
I not sure where this little monkey angel came from but she has been around for a few years now and always comes out at christmas.
And Santa, that's Mrs Santa waiting for him to come home safely as the reindeer are not as young as the were, she looks a bit worried.
My second xmas tree make by my friend Barbara a few years ago.
My Grandmother she lived to the grand old age of 95, she often played cards at night time with me when I was a child and told stories of her life when she was young, good times and so long ago.
This is Barbara and my daughter a few years back, I been cleaning out drawers and came across these old photos.
I once had mushrooms on my kitchen wall, the photo is a bit blurry but you get the idea.
you home looks so warm and inviting, the mirror over your mantel is amazing, gosh its a beautiful, I think I love the monkey angel the best, lol!! I wish for al the life of me I could send you some snow flakes, I have plenty to spare, believe me!!! Have a wonderful holiday season,
ReplyDeleteIt was a bit too warm last night, it was a hot night but rain fell early this morning so thats cooled it a bit.

I also love that mirror over your mantel. I find old photos sometimes while cleaning out drawers and things. Always brings out such good memories.
ReplyDeleteIt's always fun to come across something you haven't seen for a while.
DeleteMerle................
There must be a lot of memories in those Christmas decorations Merle!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your Summer!
Some I have had for 40 years.

Old friends, old memories are great. Also dinner at someone else's house.
ReplyDeleteNot cooking dinner always good.

Oh my goodness. You are streets ahead on me... As always your house looks wonderful - so comfortable and inviting.
ReplyDeleteAnd I would love a snow flake (or two), but will settle for a cool breeze.
Me too at the moment.
DeleteMerle.........
I love that shot of your grandmother. How wonderful that she played cards with you and told you stories...made my heart melt. My grandma used to play cards with me. I miss her dearly. Your Christmas trees are beautiful! So warm and cozy in your home!!! A happy week to you!
ReplyDeleteShe taught me many games some I have forgotten because she had different names for them and no one else could play them.
DeleteMerle.............
I see older handing over to younger for christmas. Hey, I am sure you have done many. Let the younguns do it now.
ReplyDeleteI was a bit afraid about mushrooms on your wall until I saw the photo.
Did you think I had magic mushrooms.
DeleteMerle...........
I am not one to wish for a white Christmas. Your home looks pretty all decorated and festive. I only put up one tree, that is enough for me. Have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteDo some people have more than one tree.
DeleteMerle........
It would be so nice to go to the children's places for Christmas. Mine love coming home for Christmas so are holding off on the invites. My dear daughter says. Mum I know you love doing Christmas day,but if you ever get tired of doing it,let me know LOL what can I say :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like your'e all ready Merle, gosh I love your mantle mirror. Happy week
This is the first time I've been to her place for Christmas.
DeleteMerle............
Looks like you're all decorated for Christmas!! Such a love fireplace mantel with the oval mirror over it!! The picture with your Christmas tree - love the portrait hanging on the wall of the lady with the hat!! Neat 2nd Christmas tree made from yarn and I bet you do have some great stories of your Grandmother!!
ReplyDeleteI believe we're of the same times!! I would doodle in class drawing mushrooms and trees - graduated from high school in 71. Lovely garden!! You must stay busy when you're not being sung to by the construction guys next door. :-}}
The lady with the hat is the beer fairy's grandmother or great grandmother we are not sure which but she has had pride of place in our loungeroom for some time now.
DeleteYes we are very close in age I think, how old are you when you finish school.

ReplyDeleteYour room looks marvelous Merle and I second the others who admired the fireplace and mirror!! the period homes have soooooo much more appeal. YAM xx
I like old houses, my son has a brand new home in Qld and a old house in Sydney, I like the sydney house better.
DeleteMerle...............
Very festive! I love Christmas decorations. I'm still wondering, however, where the blasted year went. Any ideas?? :)
ReplyDeleteHave you noticed the older you get the quicker they go soon they will just flash by.
DeleteMerle.................
Everything looks very cheery for Christmas - love your sweet decorations. Your friend Barbara looks just like my Dad's Mom - it's uncanny! Of course she is gone now and so is my Dad, but I thought I saw a ghost! :) I love the hand- hooked tree. It's lovely that your Grandmother lived a nice, long life and you have such sweet memories. xo Karen
ReplyDeleteThe hand hooked tree was done by Barbara and given to me some time ago.
DeleteMerle.............
Hi Merle! Your home looks so beautiful for Christmas - very festive and cheerful. I can't wait to start decorating, but my husband and I are in the process of moving into a new home right now so I am not sure if I will get the decorations up anytime soon. Hugs to you!
ReplyDeletePlenty of time left, moving is alway very time consuming.
DeleteMerle...........
You were one busy elf, doing all that decorating. I agree about Christmas gifts. After all that stress of getting rid of a life time of collecting.... I do not want another gift in the rest of my life. After 3 yard sales, filled a big truck of furniture to give to the mission, I must have made 30 trips to the thrift store in my little pick-up and furnishing my granddaughters house and also partially furnishing my son's new house...... I still have way too much stuff left. All of that came out of 3 houses and yikes, I'm finished with "stuff."
ReplyDeleteI recall the pictures of your daughter's new house and you will have a happy Christmas there.
We can get carried away with collecting, life is neater when we call a halt to it, I know mine did.
DeleteMerle............
It's all looking very Christmassy Merle! I haven't even got my stuff out of the top cupboard. I'm waiting until I get home from visiting my sister. Then it will be decorating and baking from dawn to dusk. For a couple of days anyway.
ReplyDeleteIt is a busy time of the year.
DeleteMerle.......
p.s. on Wednesday. Hi Merle! Thanks for your visits. Hope today goes well for you. Susan
ReplyDeleteToday is Thursday, Wednesday was soooooo hot today is cooler.
ReplyDeleteMerle..................
Merle, Help! Got a question for a down under girl...Do you have squirrels in Australia?
ReplyDeleteNot as far as I know, we do have a flying squirrel I think up north but he is a bit different looking and we have possums and a ring tail one has a big fluffy tail looks a bit like a big squirrel.
ReplyDeleteMerle.............
I still haven't started decorating my place... your place looks lovely and cheerful. Wishing you a peaceful advent season...
ReplyDeleteLove all your happy Christmas decorating, Merle! Wait til Barb sees that photo..bet she'll be surprised, lol! We are going to Melb. for Christmas with no.1 son :-)
ReplyDeleteWhoa, your comments section exploded! No wonder, there is SO MUCH going on in this post. Your chickens look so healthy and well-looked-after. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd your decorations are very cheery! I agree, it's nice to save money up sometimes and if you agree on the no presents that will help a lot!
We don't exchange many gifts either. I have fond memories of my grandmother teaching me how to play Scrabble.

ReplyDeleteSorry. It was about writing Christmas as christmas - an insult, but I don't care anymore.
ReplyDeleteLovely garden.
