Rainbow visitors, the garden in full sun and sore nose almost better.

My trees have lost all their leaves, we have 6 to 8 weeks with full sun in the back yard in the middle of winter it really is the best place to sit.
So it's morning tea and lunch spot by 2pm the sun is gone and it cools off fast.

Today the rainbow visitors are here to pinch Pidges food, they are so pretty but a bit shy not usually here when I sitting in the back yard and usually gone by the time I get the camera.
They are not sure if they can get into the food and away before Pidge notices.

They had a good feed, I sat very still and Kidney was sitting beside me they were not worried about the puss watching them but when Drumstick joined us they took off, well she is a bit noisy.
My  daughter drinks this lemon juice and hot water and as I has a long running cold it's very beneficial, I am becoming very fond of it.
My friend has given me some new paints so I try them out on my next painting.
 Leroy wants some attention
 Her noise is much better
This is painting I started a while back I finished it yesterday what you think.

    1. I kinda liked he wave too, it's only a small painting.
Those birds don't come in very often as they are very close to where we sit so you have to stay very still.

  4. Sunshine? What's that? We have had grey days for ages now. Most unusual.
Love the Rainbow Lorikeets who hardly ever visit us. And glad that poor Leroy's nose is healing.
And love, and am awed, at your painting. You are clever. Very clever.

    1. It is very dry and the cold nights are doing some damage, I worried about frost, we don't have many but they kill lots of plants.

I will join the rolling tide of opinion on those waves Merle!!! Fabulous. I truly do love your artwork. Boy do I miss seeing some colourful birds. Glad that nose is better. I drink the hot lemon too - adding honey a bit of crushed garlic and a pinch of dried ginger. It's my winter elixir! YAM xx

    1. It's rare to get colourful birds so close we mainly get doves and sparrows but we have a blue wren family that comes every spring and a black bird that's comes every day but it's imposable to get a picture of him.

  9. Another cheer for the capture of the water, and a close second for the travelling rainbow. How old is Pidge, by the way?

    1. We have no idea, we had him here for about 4 years, he was so badly hurt when the beer fairy found him and I was so surprised he lived but he is so fat and sleek now a picture of health but he never flies to far from home so I think he tires quick.

  12. Oh my gosh, that is a striking painting, Merle. You did a great job on it. And I can't believe that rainbow bird just hanging around in your back yard. Here, we see a lot of very average looking birds - the robin, the blue jay, and many sparrows, but if I saw this rainbow bird, I think I would be out there all day trying to take a picture of it. It is beautiful. Your camera really picked up the green in it.

    Hello Leroy.

Thank you for your birthday wishes for Nel. I'm sure it will mean a lot to her.

    love,

    1. I had to look again do you mean the red gate, we have lots of gates so we can shut Drummy away when cutting wood etc because she is very curious and we once had dogs and they were just the same.

  16. WOW!! You are awesome!! The breaking of the waves and the foam and the shading and layering of color of water on the sand!! You really are very good!! So the parrot is wild??? You called them rainbow parrots? There are wild parrots that live in St. Augustine where my Mom lives. But none up here in Atlanta. Too cold I imagine.

    1. We call them rainbow lorikeets but I can't spell never could so I might call them anything, they don't like the cold much and are very noisy but these were very quite and hungry.
