Cooler days the house next door at lock up stage and the garden getting better.

I was making the bed but Mal is in the middle of a good clean up and just doesn't want to be disturbed.
And from the look I'm getting I might just go and get breakfast and leave her to it, hot weather makes cats cranky or thats been my experience, this one remembers all wrongs against her and bites my feet in the middle of the night if I stick them out for a cool off.
Kidney has just been next door checking out the new house, no workmen there today nice and quiet.
not so good at balancing on a narrow fence.
And digging up the garden always fun.

A little project for indoors, a wash, a sand some blue paint and decorative wallpaper borders and a new shelf for the bathroom  not too good outside at the moment so indoor jobs get done.
Rain last night the Broms are full
 They do have amazing flowers

I done a bit more to my gate cover, side surports and a coat of undercoat but now it raining hope it was dry before it started.

This poor little thing has suffered badly from the heat , hope it gets better.

The grape vine likes the hot dry weather and has done well this year.

these little babies are doing well I have 3 out of 12 cuttings.

My only flowers on mass, even the blue and white plumbago is not as good as usual.

The house next door is all finished outside and they are now working on the inside, we went in for a look the other day with the owner, the plaster board was being installed he has no idea when it will be finished but no one is worried or in a hurry.
Everything is perking up now with the rain.
and lemons they are still small but haven't fallen of the tree

It's all so cool after all that heat.

and water in the bucket so we had reasonable rain last night

This is why the bed get made pretty quick, two on the bed and one around the corner waiting to move in but if the bed is made the find other places to sleep.

  5. Lemons in the garden sounds lovely Merle!
Cats have an attitude I am told but ours is such a sweetie (keeping fingers crossed of course, she is our first one!)
    Cool and dreary here, sigh...

    1. I'm excited about the lemons, I had a tree up the back for about 12 years and only a odd one every now and again and it never turned yellow but I think it might be a lime now.
Most cats are not too bad but mine do get upset in hot weather.

  6. Oh wow. Your garden is looking good. No rain here. None. Nada. Zip. They keep promising it - but they lie.
I love the shelving for your bathroom - looks great.
Our cats are too lazy to be bad tempered in the heat. Unless of course we step out of line...

    1. It's funny how cats do not tolerate certain things mine don't like cuddles they rub all over you and want lots of pats but no cuddles and mine are funny about visitors some they love to death and with others they are not to be see till the visitors go home.

  8. What a great excuse for not making a bed.

Despite the heat, your garden is still looking quite lush.

Bromeliads, bromealiads.........I would have typed broms too.

    1. Some of the gardens around here are dead, dead, dead but most have survived but some people never water them so they don't stand a chance if it doesn't rain for a while.
Spelling was always my worst subject so modify many words and names.

  9. Like Andrew said, great excuse to not make the bed. I'll have to remember how cats like to take over the bed when I get one later this year.
That photo of greenery just under the lemons photo is fabulous. I know that plant as Swedish Ivy, used to have three hanging pots with it, but none now.
Your yard looks beautiful all rain washed. I love the little bathroom shelf.

    1. We call it creeping charlie and Drumstick likes it so a lot of it has been eaten, it's a great ground cover.
It is a good excuse and when you get unexpected visitors it always works.

  15. Lovely photos....loved the bromeliads! Too cute about your cats. Our dogs love to sleep on beds and lounge chairs. Jack put claim to one of the recliners in the lounge-room and, when anyone is sitting in it, he will sit at our feet staring/glaring up at us as if willing us move from 'his' seat. lol Nice that you got some rain. :)
