Another very warm week, high temps over in Western Australia a couple of days ago are now hitting us not as hot as Melbourne I think thats where they are playing the Tennis that's got to be uncomfortable for players from the northern hemi.
Even Pidge was hot he did something I have never seen before, he took a bath.
First he sat fully in the water then by the time I got the camera he was drying off on the side in the sun but it must be too hot so back in he went.
He did this about 5 or 6 times so he had a lovely time, this is a bird that goes to bed when it rains and stays there till the sun comes out again.
Not known for his love of water
He wasn't happy about the photos don't think he like it being recorded in his wet state not as good looking as he usually is.
Drumstick doesn't mind she likes the camera. I just moved some pot plants so I could paint the gate.
As a experiment I painted the side gate red so i am going to paint all the gates red now.
And this is my completed sudoku, my first one usually I get cranky with them and throw them in the bin.
So it's up on the wall, I must admit it's in the easy section of the local newspaper but for me it's a pretty good achievement.
A lot of the plants are back in position but no painting done on the new roof area yet it's just too hot.
But I did finish the gate.
This is where the other gate goes, mainly to stop Angus going down the side of the house when he visits.
As you can see even the tree has trouble providing shade the sun is very strong at the moment.
and it's losing leaves faster than normal.
Leroy has found a spot on the spare bed under the window with a cool breeze coming in every now and again.
Ah to be a cat they do know how to relax.
and Mals found a nice cool paint tin to lean up against, I had every intention of doing so touching up but just too hot.
so I spent the morning here with my book and my book of puzzles and the insect repellant
under the open windows with a nice breeze every now and again.
its so hard for me to imagine that sort heat, even our summers never go much higher than 21 Celsius , I think the birds and the cats have the right idea, I think I would right where you were on the couch reading and doing puzzles too!
ReplyDeleteThis heat is a bit much for Australia we are having a very hot summer this year as you are having a very cold winter, 21c sounds like a nice Autumn day to us.

Your garden is awesome! And your furry pets look like they are in heaven! You did an awesome job with that gate friend! I love it red! Happy week to you...Nicole
ReplyDeleteThis can of red paint is going a long way.
DeleteMerle...............
Our cats lie against anything cool in the summer...the toilet is a favourite place!
ReplyDeletePoor old tree losing it's leaves in the heat, just when you need them too.

It's funny we have tiled floors in the loo bathroom and laundry and I would imagine they would be the coolest but they don't go there, they prefer to wooden floors.
DeleteMerle.........
Love the red gate.
ReplyDeleteVilely hot here too. My father said that if the weather was too hot or too cold to follow the animals around until they settled down. His advice was to then kick them out and take over their spot - because it would be the most comfortable spot in the house. And he was probably not wrong.
Trouble it's hard work laying on the floor at my age.
DeleteMerle.............
We could use a little heat... it would be nice to trade a little and we could both be happy :-) It is so lovely to see your green garden...
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Bella
I happy to trade best for us both.
DeleteMerle............
I love your red gates and the ornaments on them!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the Sudoku, I get to the stage of tearing out my hair, so I tear up the puzzle instead. I'm better with crosswords, my girls can do the Sudokus easily.
Leroy looks very peaceful with a breeze there, our breezes are hot, so there are no windows open here. I have the aircon running, so far I've turned it off at night, but last night got too warm to sleep comfortably even with a damp t-shirt and fan, so I will leave it on tonight and tomorrow night too.
Your shade looks very inviting. Lovely to see Pidge taking a bath.
Crosswords I only do with someone else I can't spell very well, I once did one and finished it only to discover I had made a lot of spelling mistakes so I've given them up.
DeleteA bit cooler today, nice breeze.
Merle..........
Hi Merle.... LOVE, love, love the red gate... nice to see that you and your fur and feather family are finding ways to keep cool...
ReplyDeleteHugs ... Barb xxx
It is hot, better today.
DeleteI've got three gates so I will paint them all red.
Merle...............
Red gates is so Japanese, and it works well. A cat's life can be quite good. How nice to sprawl out in the heat.
ReplyDeleteMy cat's do have a good life but a bit boring there is just so much sleeping you can do.
DeleteMerle..............
I cannot believe the temperatures you folks are living in. I can recall a few 101 and 102's here and we just staggered through the days and tossed all night.
ReplyDeleteYour red gates are magnificent!
Sudoku stinks! It makes me crazy; I leave them to my sister and my nephew.
It's hotter than usual but I do have a shaded garden to sit in.

ReplyDeleteLoving the gate...and that breezy window. Sudoko??!! Rather you than me. It deserves to be mounted on the wall. YAM xx
I thought is was a good idea.
DeleteMerle............
Your garden looks lovely with bits of sun poking through.
ReplyDeleteWe were watching the Australian Open on TV and were surprised at how hot it is for the tennis players.
The tennis was cancelled yesterday it was just too hot.
DeleteMerle.......
Your sunny weather looks very inviting to me!
ReplyDeleteA bit too sunny lately.
DeleteMerle...........

I've been doing it for a while now that's the first one out.
DeleteMerle...............
I have heard about your heat on the news - even though it sounds good to me in winter here, I know how hard it is to move around. Looks like Pidge and the cats have figured it all out. Your gates are great painted red and your gardens look like an oasis. I have never tried Sudoku - it looks really hard - congrats on that! xo
ReplyDeleteWe heard about your cold the weather has gone mad at the moment.
DeleteMerle...................
Oh your cats are so cute! Every time I see your cats they make me smile :) Hugs to you, Merle!
ReplyDeleteCats are cute most of the time.
DeleteMerle........
My sympathies over the extreme heat...we saw this on the news...ours will come in a few months.
ReplyDeleteJen
Not as hot as us I hope.
DeleteMerle................
I really like your photos of the cats - adorable!
ReplyDeleteYou can always get a good picture of a cat not that they do much.
DeleteMerle...............
I don't know which is worse, your terrible heat or our terrible cold. It's a shame we can't work out a way to moderate it so we're all comfortable!
ReplyDeleteI just watched the International new and they were saying there is little sun activity at the moment that is a contributing factor to why you are so cold but it doesn't explain why we are so hot.
ReplyDeleteMerle.................
After the cold temps we have been having and more to come this week, I would love to feel HOT! So Pidge loves the water but is camera shy? Some birds are timid. Your kitty is finding a way to survive the heat by just relaxing. I like the red gates! Stay cool, wish you could send some heat this way.. Have a happy week!
