Fires ring Sydney

This morning this is how our sky looked.

Our two little twins came in for breakfast always a kiss to say hello,  Mal lives inside Who just visits at mealtimes she likes the freedom to roam.
Must catch up on the gossip.
The sun at about 2:00pm
Some of my plants look a bit worse for wear, it's very hot and very dry, humidity is about 10%, I must say I like it dry but it's very bad for bushfires.

The smoke is building up.
The sky is clear to the south.

But heavy in the west.
Both cats have come in to chat to the beer fairy and Pidge is home at 2.00pm much to early for him the other two cats are inside too.
This is our sky we are not close to the fires but the wind is bringing a lot of smoke our way.

This is the lady next door she is moving out today but maybe moving back in 6 months or maybe going to Melbourne, we have a young couple and a small child moving in.This house is a semi and only very small but just newly renovated so it very nice inside but no garden well not much.
The sky colour keeps changing as the smoke moves in then clears, we are only 6weeks into spring, summer will be hell on earth if we don't get rain soon, as we had a couple of years of wet summers the surrounding bush has been growing happily but now it tinder dry and we have been having strong winds perfect conditions for bush fires.

  1. I've seen the fires on TV, they're horrifying. I hope everyone I know is safe and of course everyone else too.

  3. We live with forest fires every summer too. Very annoying. That is the kind of neighbor that is desired, comes with a bottle of wine.

    1. We have had a few years with no fires so we have relaxed about them.
It's always nice when visitors bring something.

    1. Most of my friends and family live in or close to the cities so we are all pretty safe but the beer farirys family come from the country but they live on the plains on the other side of the mountains. It's the Blue Mountains that are on fire at the moment.

  5. Perhaps Pidge came in early because the breathing is better inside. Stay safe.

  6. This post brought tears to my eyes as I remembered the Canberra fires from a few years ago. At three o'clock we couldn't see across the road. Fires are so destructive, and so frightening.
And yes, fires so early in Spring is terrifying. I hope that the conditions ease today - and that no more homes and/or lives are lost.

  7. Oh I am so sorry that this is happening...the smoke looks intense and I know how that can make breathing troublesome...sort of catches a person in the throat. May it rain very soon.

  8. I remember conditions like that here and even though no one you know is under threat, you can feel quite edgy.

  13. It's bad isn't it. Reminds me of a fire we had here nearly 30 years ago. I stayed indoors today..too much smoke over our town too. Probably coming from the Blue Mountains. It's amazing to see how far it can spread!
While it makes interesting photos the smoke makes it hard to breathe if you're asthmatic :-/ Hope your new neighbours are nice, Merle.

    1. The couple that were moving in next door are not coming a death in the family has made it impossible to move in so we don't know who is coming, it's unusual to have new neighbours on both sides.
The air is better today it has been very smoky not to good for your lungs.

  14. Sorry to hear about your fires. I do hope you get some rain soon. Your photos are amazing, but that sky looks pretty scary. Sweet little kitties. The tree with the purple flowers is beautiful. It's nice to get new neighbors. xo

  15. It's just too awful for words. Like you say, it's just 6 weeks into spring. Such heartbreak, such loss of life ... especially the animals. I don't dare think about it.

Take care. Hope the rain comes soon.

  17. I wish you rain, and just enough to do good, but not damage. I know what it's like to worry about wild fires, they get them up here each summer.
