This is the beer fairy's lounge, it's as old as the hills but he loves it, he welded a metal frame for it so it's as solid as a rock but really cosy and good to sit lie or whatever, but every couple of years it gets a new cover as the cats like it too and sharpening claws on the sides is just so much fun, and they are always doing it so the cover wears out quick.
The garden fairies also got a new paint job as I was inside for a few days with all the activity next door and all the dust flying around.
Must be a good story they look quite chatty.
A new check blanket for my bed, it's very light for summer, washed out the winter quilts much to hot now.
Do you think they have had a fight not so friendly now.
This is the material for the now cover not sure he would like it but he said it doesn't matter what it looks like as long as it feels good and is not rough to touch, men are easily pleased.
It a bit fiddly to fit but worth the effort, I tried one of those ready made ones but they just don't do lounges this shape anymore and they just don't fit. We had this lounge for 30 odd years and he found it somewhere most probably on the side of the road so I sprayed it with bug spray to kill anything that was living in it, he fixed it all up and I have been making covers for it ever since.
My daughter in law made this for me, it's very pretty she makes all the flowers and the little bird from felt.
My son arrived the other day bearing gifts. It's my birthday soon and they are visiting for two weeks.
I got some new broms this one is a beauty.
This is like a bird of paradise only different so I don't know what it is.
And this is a bottle tree grows to a massive thing in about 100 years I not sure how long they think I will last.
The cover is almost finished it needs to be washed so I know if it will shrink so it looks a bit big yet.
The fabric is lovely and the idea of covering an entire sofa by throwing the material about until it's finished just boggles me. Well done.
ReplyDeleteA cover is not to bad I had a go at doing things with a staple gun now that was dangerous those things hurt if it goes wrong also hammers hurt if you miss the nails.

Wow. It looks great. Hard work rewarded. And the old sofas are MUCH more comfortable. And built to last as well.
ReplyDeleteLove your bromeliads too.
I think old sofas are more comfortable, I often have a nanna nap on it and it's warmer too.
DeleteMerle.......
what a great job! Those are the best pieces of furniture that last, its the perfect shape as well, looks very cosy, I like the fabric too, it looks great, what amazing plants, here in my part of Canada winter is creeping in, its a pleasure to see your plants and flowers, you're taking the heavy quilts off the bed and I'm just putting them on mine!
ReplyDeleteIt's great weather here at the moment, no humidity to speak of and lots of sun in a couple of months it's like a steam bath here thats not so good.
DeleteMerle........
You are a very talented seamstress! Phew!
ReplyDeleteIt's mainly guess work and putting it on and talking it off.
ReplyDeleteMerle.......
I love the new couch cover, you've done a great job there! my daughter does her own too, takes off the old one and takes it apart at the seams to use as a pattern. I just throw a blanket over my couch. I'm lazy that way.
ReplyDeleteI'm about to wash my winter quilt too, have to get it to a laundromat with one of those giant quilt machines, it won't fit in mine. But I leave it on the bed for summer, it's feather and down so insulates the mattress from the heat, I open it up at night and get into a cool bed.
I really like that colourful bird hanging in the tree and the new bromeliad. Can't wait to see the flower on that one. I also like the felt bird and flowers wreath from your daughter, she's so talented, but of course, with a crafty mum like you.
That's a good tip with the quilt, I will try it, maybe it will keep my bed cooler in summer.
DeleteI got two broms coming into flower, I will post pictures when it happens they have such interesting flowers and some last for months.
Merle......
Ahhh, men and their seating choices! It gives us quite a challenge to decorate around but you did a fantastic job! M
ReplyDeletey husband has a really ugly, puke yellow, corduroy recliner that he got at a thrift store for $15. I have a white blanket over it and pray everyday that it falls apart but, it's as strong as a bomb shelter so I'm sure he'll have it for years to come!
Men do like ugly comfortable things.
Deletemerle......
LOVE that lounge! The fabric for the cover is just my style!
ReplyDeleteWhen I'm out and about I like to buy things when I see something I like this fabric was end of a bolt so I could never get any more but it was on special and I just had enough.

ReplyDeleteBeer Fairy has no idea what an angel he has I think! That fabric is fabby and the red cushions yell "me, me, sit with me!!!" The cornstalk wreath is a delight as, indeed, is the garden - as always &*> YAM xx
I was thinking of new cushions, the red ones the material is very thin now.
DeleteMerle.......
I love the cover! It's like going on an Asian holiday! :)
ReplyDeleteIt is Asian looking.

I like peeking into other people's every day worlds! how clever that your 2 figurines can tell different stories, just by repositioning them. :-) Happy Sunday to you!
ReplyDeleteThey are out in the garden now so they have other people to talk to.

ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for mentioning that you have difficulties with the watering too...felt like it was only me with the sunny spot garden.
