THE FIREPLACES ARE PRETTY GOOD TOO, THIS PHOTO NOT SO GOOD. |
THIS IS MY LIGHT NOW, NOTICE ALL THE WALLS AND CEILINGS ARE WOOD STRIPS AND WERE LETTING IN THE COLD SO THEY HAVE REPLACED ALL THE WALLS WITH PLASTERBOARD. |
IT'S A DOUBLE FIREPLACE THIS IS THE OTHER SIDE. |
THE BACK YARD HAD NOT BEEN MOWED FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS AND WE HAD SO MUCH RAIN EVERYTHING HAS GONE WILD, MAINLY THE GRASS. |
WE KNOW NO ONE IN THE AREA BUT IT TOOK THE BEER FAIR ABOUT 10 MTS TO FIND A BLOKE TO GOSSIP WITH, MEN THEY ARE CHATTY THINGS. |
HE HAS A YUCCA SO I WILL KEEP A EYE ON IT TO SEE IF IT FLOWERS. |
I LIKE HIS ENTRANCE, MY SON BUILT THIS COVERED GATE BUT ITS NOT A VERY GOOD PICTURE. |
THERE WAS 21 SHEETS OF THIS STUFF AND IT WAS HEAVY, I WAS FEELING MY AGE BY THE TIME WE WERE FINISHED CARRYING.IT INT THE HOUSE. |
MOST OF THE WALLS WERE UP IN A DAY AND THEY STARTED ON THE CEILING THIS IS A PLASTER BOARD LIFTER AND IT MAKE THE JOB MUCH EASIER. |
YOU LOAD IT UP . |
AND TURN THE WHEEL AND UP IT GOES. |
IT WAS VERY DUSTY SO I ENDED UP OUT IN THE GARDEN PULLING OUT WEEDS AND A GENERAL TIDY UP. |
THE BEER FAIRY CAME OUT TO TAKE A FEW SHOTS OF ME WORKING, SAYS IT RARE, HE 'S A BIT OF A SMART ARSE. |
Busy, busy! I love the last photo of you - very cute :) Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteHugs!
It's so long since anyone said a photo of me was cute, thank you so much.
DeleteMerle.........
I like the last photo too! We call that stuff drywall...weighs a flipping ton doesn't it?!
ReplyDeleteJane x
It sure is and I hate the dust when you cut into it.
DeleteMerle........
Hey you have been so busy there - hope you got everything finished. We worked this weekend too. Love, sandie
ReplyDeleteNo they will be back in September, hope to have it finished by Christmas.
DeleteMerle......
Oh Merle, you are so funny. You and the Beer Fairy must have fun together! You are a cute couple. Nice to be renovating, isn't it? Susan
ReplyDeleteIt's not my house, I'm just helping out the kids, renovating is hard work and I'm past it now.
DeleteMerle.......
That ceiling is gonna be beautiful. I love it. You and the Beer Fairy are hysterical. Great picture of you at the end! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteIt's is looking good now.
DeleteMerle.......
...(O:
ReplyDeleteHow are you
DeleteMerle..............
The photos tell a good story. Interesting that it takes two blokes to load the ceiling plaster sheets onto the lifter when it used to take two blokes on a trestle to lift up a sheet, glue and nail the sheet in place.
ReplyDeleteI have done it the old way, we had 5 blokes when we put our ceiling up in the kitchen but we had bigger sheets, that's what they were trying to get but it was Bunnings and they never have the size you want, so they used the smaller ones
DeleteMerle...........................
What an enormous amount of work. Enormous!
ReplyDeletePS--do keep an eye on the yucca. Mine are almost done. I don't see any flower stalks on yours--yet.
DeleteTo much for me, I am watching both their one and mine to see if they flower.
DeleteMerle..........
Beautiful pictures, fantastic photographic reportage :) Regards
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteMerle..............
That window is lovely, but probably expensive to repair. What a lot of work - I am imagining myself in that garden, makes me tired just to see it!
ReplyDeleteThe guy who is taking the windows is a jack of all trades so he will fix them no problems an d that garden is just gone wild.
DeleteMerle............
Wow, I love watching a renovation in progress. The window is beautiful, a shame it can not stay! I like the shot the beer fairy took of you in the garden. It shows you hard at work pulling those weeds. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI like to watch anyone work, I missed my calling I should have been the boss but it never happened.
DeleteMerle........
Looks like good things happening there, Merle! Renovations are so disruptive, though and hard work, too. I like that contraption to lift the sheet rock - I have never seen one of those! The garden is looking healthy with all the rain. I love to read your blog, you always make me laugh! Can't wait to see the end results. Oh, I love the arbor your son built. xo
ReplyDeleteIt's good to renovate when you don't live in the house you are working on, they are now living in QLD and stay with us when in Sydney, so they just shut the doors and leave the mess, so much better.
DeleteMerle............,
Love the fireplaces! Must be an older home with that type of fireplace and front windows. Here in America, they used colored pains of glass around the door and also in the doors in the late 1800s. You certainly got your exercise in pulling all those weeds.
ReplyDeleteThe sharp tipped plant that you call a yucca plant - we call it a Spanish bannet in Florida. Ours will grow a tall stalk of white flowers. looks like you have a good group of workers!!
I really like the fireplaces too we have one in our place but it's not as fancy as theirs, their house was built in the late 1800's it's about 115years old and has the dust to prove it, the walls were taken out in the bedrooms and replaced and the amt of dust was amazing but worth the effort.
DeleteMerle...............
.... Hi Merle......the house is coming along well.... it's a lot of work..but it'll be worth it...
ReplyDeleteI love the double sided fire place... I always wanted one of these..
I think the pic of you weeding is great... you look good...
Men do talk a lot.... my Mr. is always talking to our next door Mr.
.... Hugs...

So much work being done! I like the plasterboard lifter, I haven't seen one before but I have heard of them.
