My holiday is Sawtell.

Last week I spent some time in Sawtell up on the north coast of NSW. It involved a train trip of 9 hours up and 9 hours back in mainly rural countryside so I took some photos out the train window not all worked out too well but here goes.  The country is green usually by this time it's brown and thirsty as it's the end of summer here.

We have had a lot of rain and in some areas there is flood damage, I tried to take pictures of the creeks that wind around these areas but the train is pretty fast so I often just missed out.

It's very restful to wiz past rolling hills and I often had little nana naps to pas the time an hour in the plane but you see nothing of the countryside.

Of cause I had to check out the garden .

I really like the stone wall that runs down the side of the house.

They have houses on each side but the back fence keeps the cows out from a large paddock, they come and bang on the fence so you don't get to sleep in and kookaburras sit on the fence and laugh early in the morning all unusual for me.

This is my sister and her hubby the paper must be interesting this morning.

This sad looking tree was blown over in a storm so they chopped off most of the branches and replanted it and now it's it has tiny new shoots everywhere.

Me  at the local beach, this day it was very windy and just a tad cold, no one was swimming.

A lovely long beach and no people it's not like this in Sydney.

My sister and her hubby

If you follow the beach it becomes more rocky a great place to poke around.

Storm clouds rolling in time to head home.

A calm place to bring small children to swim away from the wild surf.

  1. It is so nice to get away, it has been many years since I have visited Sawtell. Your photos are lovely, I am suprised it took 9hours by train... it is so nice to catch up with family, we caught up with family last week as well at Dubbo, Gunnedah, Forster and Woy Woy on the way home.
Thankyou for your comment on my blog, sorry if I made it a bit hard for you to follow. I have updated my post and hopefully made my point a little clearer. Your comments and blog friendship are valuable to me and I thankyou for them.
    Blessings

    1. Hi Diana
Never been on a train amazing, our trains are very comfortable and we get 4country trips a year for free in our state so now that the beer fairy no longer drives I intent to use the train more often. Sydneys city rail is not so good.

    1. Hi Noelle,
Train travel is better than plane travel there is more to look at and room to move, plus the staff was very nice a pleasant surprise, only thing wrong was the food not so good.
Hope you had a Happy Easter, the beer faerie and Angus say hello.

  6. Is that your daughter in the header - she looks like you. And I always wonder when I see pictures of other countries - you can tell right away it is not the USA. Everything is so different. Photo number 4 with the clouds is beautiful. I love seeing a picture of you. The beach is beautiful too! Have a blessed Easter. sandie

    1. Yes thats my daughter, hard to believe she is 33 this year. Most of our trees are gums and they are a bit different to look at but they smell wonderful after rain so when I have been overseas I miss the smell more than anything.
The beach is a bit knocked around we had a lot of storms on the coast and the beaches are dirtier than usual.

    1. Hi Trish
The beach area is lovely up there not maybe not so deserted at Easter, very popular for the school holidays thats why I wanted to go before they started.
The pictures of the countryside were taken out of the train window most of the time that was not what I was taking a picture of but the train moves along pretty well and you get what you get, they turned out alright because all the country looks good at the moment.
