A day in Sydney with the wildlife

Every year my friend and I go and see the the entrants in the Archibald art show, they don't let you take photos so I have none to show you but we spent the rest of the day wondering around  the Sydney Gardens and Hyde Park a lovely place to spend a couple of hours.

The weather was wonderful to start with.

Lots of huge trees no flowers it's winter here well almost.

and water features.

And strange looking plants.

This is the information area but as you can see no information is available as their is no one there to give it.

This is how lush and green these ferns are at the start of Winter.

I have no idea what this is.

or this it looks like a girl dancing but it is the seed pod on that thing above, I think.

This is the drain or a storm water run off.

I know this lady from somewhere

I have no idea but I like it, its made of copper and gone a lovely green colour in the weather.

The top of the harbour bridge.

Stairs to climb.

This is autumn,

and Winter.

Spring and summer are up the stairs but who wants to climb them.

A flock of cockatoos finding seeds in the grass.

More coming in

This cheeky fellow coming over to say hello.

Enter a tourist with a handful of seeds.

Hey fellows this lady has got food for us come and get it, dinner time.

She was delighted, never been so close to a wild bird before or so her friend told me.

All these ones moved over for a bit to eat.

AIt was time to party.

and party they did.

A good time was had by all.

What a lovely colour.

We even have a castle.

Clouds rolling in and a few spits of rain.

Time to head for home.

Well that's my Sydney.

  2. Wow, Merle, thank you so much for taking us along! I really loved this! So many beautiful (and strange) plants - the pale trees are lovely and the views of the city are gorgeous. I laughted out loud seeing the girl feeding the birds (still laughing at the look on her face)! So amazing to see wild Cockatoo's! You live in a beautiful place! xoxo

  6. What a wonderful day. I have just called my partner down to see the cockatoos being hand fed. I think it has given him ideas. The King Parrots will eat from our hands but our cockatoos are more cautious. Thank you - I am still smiling after wandering through the park with you...

    1. I would never try and feed a cockatoo from my hand, I value my hand to much but she didn't seem too worried or maybe she didn't know how nasty they can be but no harm was done.

  7. The lass with the cockatoos looks a little alarmed when they are perched all over her. They do scratch sometimes. Great photos.

    1. That spot near The Opera House is always so crowded on a sunny day but this day was a bit gloomy so not so many people.
