Today I'm on my way to Parramatta for a lunch with some old school mates, they get together each year, I've missed the last two or maybe three.
I was a bit early so wondered down to the river to see if there were any changes well these buildings were not here last time I was here about 2 years ago, about 60 stories tall but very thin. I can see them from the bus stop but didn't realise the were all the way done on the river
They are selling them off the plan, wonder how much they are, will look them up., They start at $608,000 to over the million, guess I will give them a miss.
The river looks nice and clean but we have a lot of rain.
Flowers everywhere pink and white very pretty.
There were 10 of us that turned up for lunch.
We are all retired now so lunch was a long affair.
I got everyone in but me but you all know what I look like
See ladies of my age also sit and play with our phones at the dinner table.
what a fun to meet friends and chatting nonstop for hours ,i can do this dear
ReplyDeleteIt's not a bad way to spend a afternoon.

As I remember, those towers in Parramatta were quite controversial and people fought against them being built. Yes, I too have seen quite a number of older people just as obsessed with phones as young people.
ReplyDeleteI don't like all the big tall buildings but no one asked me.

Hello, the class reunion sounds like a fun get together. I love the river scenes and flowers. The new building are tall and skinny, I wonder if they would move in a wind storm. Have a great day and weekend.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure they will bend in the wind let's hope they don't fall over.

ReplyDeleteI was thinking about wind like Eileen. No desire whatsoever do I have to even go up to find out!!! The river looks wonderful. ... and I am of the opinion that phone-gazing in this kind of social setting is about as antisocial as smoking ever was... YAM xx
The river looks cleaner than I've ever seen it, maybe all the rain. I once smoked and it was always considered polite to ask first before you lit up but no such a thing with mobile phones.

What fun, a class reunion. How sad they were stuck to phones.
ReplyDeleteThe city is beautiful!
We were given a list 31 were invited but only 10 attended a pity not more attended but people live very busy lives these days.

I wonder whether we have any reunions? I suppose so, but I have slipped off the radar.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very different Paramatta to the one I last visited (lots of years ago).
Parramatta has changed a lot and not finished yet.

.. Glad you had a nice reunion Merle.....
ReplyDelete.. I really think at functions like this, all phones should be switched off..
..the flowers in the streets look beautiful.. xxxxx
...Barb xxx
I think they were looking for photos of their families so we will allow that.
DeleteThe streets are not as good as most springs but lots of construction out there.
Merle........
Phones at the dinner table? I can see you all had a lovely lunch, nice to catch up with old friends.
ReplyDeleteIt was a lovely lunch...

The river and flowers look lovely. I went to two high school reunions many years ago it's good to catch up but that was enough for me. Those towers are real eyesores, I wonder if they sway in the wind.
ReplyDeleteI have been going for the last 10 years but not every year, about every 3years I manage.

I have another blog friend who gets together with her class mates once a month. This sounds like fun, Merle. I'm glad you went; it looks like you had a good time.
ReplyDeletelove, ~Sheri
It was a good time but once a month might be to often.

I love the look of the whole place! How was parking? Or do you have good public transit?
ReplyDelete5minutes away from my place in the bus and a short walk.
DeleteMerle............
What fun that must have been to get together for a visit! I recently found out one of my neighbors is someone I went to school with. He swears we were "friends".... I know this to be wrong--- but I let him keep believing it lol
ReplyDeleteThe last get together there were more people, some I just can't remember, this year only one is a complete stranger to me but she did remember me so I pretended I knew her.
