Painting waves, dragon fruit and strange light.

Today is cold and wet so I will spend the day painting, well I did start cleaning the house but I blew out the motor on my vacuum cleaner smoke, sparks and a bad smell so that's that it, I killed another one, been a few over the years.
This is the start, lots of water outside so may as well paint some inside as well.

Snack time it's great sitting here with the heater on but hunger calls, this is dragon fruit wonderful  things, I am very fond of them.

Some are red inside some white, all good but red is best.

The beer fairy called me outside to take photos, wonderful light but this is not a storm just crazy light.
It's about 4pm in the afternoon but very dark with sun shinning in limited areas.

 I has got very dark.

 Then turned bluey pink.
Settled back to paint but got a visitor, she hits you on the leg for a bit if you ignore her the claws come out.

Took a few photos to show progress, will show the final painting next time.

You are ignoring me mum, I don't like that, have you seen such a mean look, the claws are about to come out, my little honey wants a snack and a play so time for a break, that gray thing is my leg.
So it's good night from me and Leeroy .
No story for Words on Wednesday this week writers block has set in.

  1. Merle, you really do have a talent in painting. This ocean painting is very nice. Your night pictures are cool with the pink and purple sky. This is such an unusual fruit. I've never heard of it before. The inside looks a bit like a kiwi. The outside DOES look like a dragon. Would like to try one sometime.

    Have a splendid week, Merle.

    1. If you do have a few over a period of time as sometimes they are a bit tasteless and other times very nice, I always keep mine in the fridge for
      a while too.

  2. It is very eerie light. I haven't eaten dragon fruit for a long time. I find it ok but perhaps a bit bland. I suppose a blown vacuum cleaner is a reasonable excuse for not doing housework. Almost.

    1. This year they are good a few years back when I first tried them I would agree with you.
I will sweep my mats today now that's a workout.

  3. Yum, dragon fruit. I agree the red ones are best.
Love your painting - and that light.
Wet here. We have had our monthly average rainfall in less than three days. I love it. The cats emphatically do not.

  4. Now Now Leeroy, put those claws away!
Your waves look fabulous, I love crashing waves.
I also love that time of day when the sun is down far enough that just the tall trees are highlighted.
I've never tried dragon fruit, do you scoop it out with a spoon and just eat it like that?

    1. You scoop it out with a spoon and it must be soft, it has no flavour if it is hard, I like it straight from the fridge.

  5. Hello Merle, your ocean painting is beautiful. I have never heard or seen dragon fruit. Looks like your sky had some pretty colors at the end of the rainstorm. Enjoy your day!

  9. Hi Merle! Great start to your pretty painting - you are one talented lady. Of course, I wouldn't get any painting or cleaning done if a sweet little friend was looking for love, lol. Super cool lighting pics, too! Jane

  13. Ooh I like your painting- it's a gift go be able to do that! I love the way the sun was lighting the trees- great capture! Kitty is letting you know "hey I'm here". I had one that would wrap his paw around and tug on you. I love my cats :-) I agree with the previous comment about the great movement you created in painting of the water- fabulous!

  15. So much bold raw energy in active water. This is a powerful painting.
My puss does the same thing with her paw if I ignore her. At first I thought it was cute but it definitely gets to be a bother.
