my mini holiday part 1

I've had a couple of days off, my daughter and I went up to the mountains this was my birthday present for my last birthday, we went to Medlow Bath to The Hydro Majestic hotel we stayed the night and returned the next day, it's hot and humid in Sydney at the moment, cooler up in the Blue Mountains
We went up by train this is the starting point at Parramatta Station all so clean so much cleaner than I remember it last time I was here.
Arrived at Medlow Bath 2 hours later I think faster than driving.

There was mist everywhere and the station is a lot smaller but it is cooler.
my daughter giving the victory sign well we did arrive on time and in one piece.
Interesting mural I just had to stand in front of it and spoil the picture.
This is the hotel it's just reopened after a bit of a upgrade not gone so far as the fence yet.
But you must admit
it is different to look at.
This is what they say is the garden view, that's the highway out the front and a bit further over the train track not my Idea of a garden view, we were surposed to have a room overlooking the Megalong valley but there was a bit of a mixup so we got free breakfast and free drinks before dinner.
This was our room quite lovely but a bit small.

Without the touches of yellow and red bag you would think they were black and white photos.
My selfie in the bathroom.
All old taps and door handles etc were reused., we went for a walk around the grounds before dinner.
The weather was still misty but patches of clear weather shone through every now and again.
This was one of the old look outs but was closed off to the public.
And the old Tennis courts were in disrepair, but just look at that sky, black as the ace of spades.

  1. Crikey Merle ...... you got to stay at the HYDRO??? We go to the mountains all the time. We were there for two weeks just recently but we couldn't stay at the Hydro. NO DOGS ALLOWED!! Mum and Dad did go and check it out though and I did have a walk around the grounds. They've sure done a lot of work there recently. The view of the Megalong Valley is something else, aye?? We LOVE the mountains. You and your daughter sure look alike!!! She is beautiful and has such a lovely smile.

    1. This is the third time I've being going there the first we couldn't afford it, we been married10 years and were going for a weekend away but it was madly expensive so we cancelled, the next time I called in with my son and a visitor from USA for a afternoon tea but they were working on the tea rooms and they were closed so this time we made it, it's only been open a couple of months
      The views were wonderfull
Are you saying I'm beautiful and have a lovely smile too, why thank you.

    1. Maybe we are spoiled as we grow older, as a child I always found motel rooms so exciting and big but they were a very rare treat then.

    1. They have been doing it slowly for a long time but being heritage listed it limits what they can do.

  8. I've often thought when driving up into the Blue Mountains that the train trip would be very pleasant. Sadly mid summer the last time we were there, the mountains were covered in mist and we could not see anything. I am pleased the place compensated you for the 'garden view'. It all looks very nice.

  12. Ok wait, is that the hotel shampoo in that pic? It's HUGE! Do you know how big the shampoos are in American hotels? Like if you have long hair, forget getting completely clean.
