I'm getting a new roof well half of one, and my week.

The roofers are here today, they are replacing part of my roof with tin, the tiles on the low part of our roof are almost flat and don't allow the water to drain away in very heavy rain so we often have leaks in our kitchen and back part of the house.
The kitchen has been repaired twice now but we wanted to fix the problem permanently so the roofers are doing their thing now.
They are replacing that area with tin much lighter and will allow the water to drain away much faster, well thats the idea but will have to wait for heavy rain to test it out.
But this is the start of the week, off to bingo on Monday.

We are sitting in the chairs of littleness but I don't think it worked at all.
This is the mystery fruit open and in the beer fairy's hands so you can see the size.

Drummy and friends was finished.
My new roof.
The tiles were removed on the flat section.
A waterproof layer added then tin, as the angle can not be changed this was the only way out.
The beer fairy offering advice
Oh look they gone on strike maybe, just out to lunch.
Lots of roof tiles but they will take them so that's good.

  1. Crikey ..... how good's that?? AND when it rains it will be like the olden days. Rain on corrugated iron rooves. Nothing like it. Takes Mum back to her childhood. Sounds great!!!!!!!!!
I love the painting of Drummy and friends. You are so talented. Mum can't even draw stick figures.

New roof, new painting (brill BTW), new fruit..... can't say you don't have variety in life! As to the fruit - that is looking very much like sapota (aka zapota or sapodilla) variety of some sort, though perhaps as yet unripe - it begs the question as to whether the shop at which it was bought didn't advertise the name??!! Have you tasted it? YAM xx

    1. ...ah having checked back on comments I find you say they taste 'pretty good' - which I take to mean sweet. Sapota are usually brown, with a somewhat thinner skin than I see here, but that inside is certainly like one though I have never seen one with white flesh; if very sweet and 'bready' in texture then I would say that it has to be one of these fruits but a new variety...Yxx

  6. Nice roof and now you can hear the sounds of rain on your tin (metal) roof..if the water runs off can you catch it in a drum to save the water? I love the Drummy and friends painting. Have a happy day!

    1. It's a bit noisy but we have always had tin over the laundry so not much different.
We have a drum to catch water, but considering a water tank in the future.

  7. The logic about the roof seems good. Hope it works. Rain on the roof is nice for sleeping, as long as it isn't too heavy.

  9. Merle, you're getting a new roof! It looks like a lot of work is being done at your house. I really like the painting of Drumstick and friends. I didn't realize you could draw, you did a great job. My kids can all draw, and I don't know where they got their talent from. Love those chairs of littleness.

Happy Valentine's Day, Merle. I hope you have a splendid day.

  13. That's nice, and about time as well. I'm glad to see that you've stuck to your vision and dealt with new roofing immediately. Better to do that now, than to let those raw materials rot or waste away by the wayside. A new look is always a plus, right? Thanks for sharing that! All the best!

    1. This is a problem we had for about 20 years, first I made a claim with my insurance co but was disappointed in their reaction as they couldn't give me a reason as there were no cracked tiles and they refused the claim so guess what no insurance with them anymore but it wasn't a problem for a while then but lately we had a lot of heavy rain so it's become more pressing so now it's fixed well so far so good.

  14. A tin roof is a lot cheaper than having shingles, and could last for quite some time. So I think it was wise of you to make the switch. Anyway, how’s the roof holding up? I hope it doesn’t give you sleepless nights on rainy days. Haha! Thanks for sharing!

  15. Aside from the exhausting day you guys had for repairing the roof, it’s good to know that half your week has been quite productive. Anyway, how is the roof doing nowadays? I hope you are no longer encountering problems with it. Thanks for sharing this with us. All the best!

  17. Many roofing companies have diversified their offerings in order to satisfy more of their customer's needs. People are more likely to bring you back for roof maintenance if they can also get their siding and gutters washed and cleaned.
