Fresh flowers

I remember every Saturday as a kid my sister and I picked flowers from the garden and arranged them in vases, there was fresh flowers in every room in the house, I was part of our weekly jobs we also dusted every week  and washed up every night. The flowers we liked doing the other jobs not so much.
There was always lots of flowers in our garden, my garden has many plants but not so many flowers but I do have a  roses so I get a few bunches a year.  These are always a bit wind blown looking but have a wonderful smell, they change colour as they age.
Most of my house flowers are the fake kind, but they are just not the same.

  2. beautiful roses! I love the old roses that smell nice, the newer roses hold a pretty shape longer but sacrificed that beautiful smell! We are still in a blizzard here, you had a lovely homelife by the sounds of it, flowers in every room would be wonderful!

  6. Lots of the plants in our garden I grow so we can have flowers in the house. And I love it. At the moment I am waiting for the liliums. And the roses which bloomed briefly and stopped.
Dusting is one of my least favourite jobs. Still.

  8. Oh Merle, there's nothing like fresh flowers in the house, is there? Your roses are so pretty, and such a nice color. I enjoyed hearing the story of when you were a kid. Keep picking those flowers, Merle. I believe they are the magic in our lives.

    Happy Thanksgiving to you.

Yes indeed, nothing beats the fresh bouquet! All the better for having been grown by the hand that picks them... I'm with others in thinking that the good old 'cottage' type beat the cultivated shop models petals down!!! YAM xx

  12. Oh Merle, your blossoms are so beautiful! The ground is covered in snow here so we don't be seeing flowers for a while. Thanks for sharing!
