Back in the garden.

Drummy has been off her food and not talking to us, she is moulting and it must knock them around we were worried that she was dying as we have no idea how old she is, she stopped laying eggs about 12 months ago so she is not young but has bounced back and is almost normal now.
She is into fruit now and,  tucking in to her favourite watermellon drink in the right container.

A pumpkin from last year has taken root.

I've got 6 of these but when are they ripe, they don't change.

This is moth vine very pretty when in flower but it just takes over so I will have to pull it all out I often do, but it keeps coming back.

Kidney is playing tiger she has tried to catch a lizard but he was just to fast for her.
Looking for more.
I would be frightened of those yellow eyes.

Derricks cage looking a bit lonely.

Do you think the juice has fermented she looks a bit merry, thats another thing her comb is looking lighter.
Night has fallen so inside for me.

  3. Fantastic photos of your garden especially the moth vine flowers and bromeliad. Drummy might instinctively know watermelon juice is good for her.

    1. Kidney is a pint size tiger in more ways than one.
Derrick opened his cage door and flew away a few weeks ago, no one seen him since.

Slurpies for Drummy - lucky gal! Off the lay and moulting birds tend to paler combs... Your bromeliad matches her!!! My monstera at Asquith always took ages to mature, but then suddenly the fruit starts to pop and that is when to harvest it... tastes like a mixed fruit salad with strong overtones of pineapple! YAM xx

    1. I've tasted it when I was about 10,remember it as texture of a banana with little black flecks in it, I think in those days it was called the fruit salad fruit.

    2. That's it! Fruit salad plant. I didn't remember the name until you said it here. I know the plant as Monstera.

  8. I love your garden, but will remember to never plant moth vine. The Monstera fruits might mature and ripen when the plant is older, a ripe fruit is very yellow, almost golden and large.

    1. Yes that moth vine is a curse.
I will leave the fruit on the plant and see what happens, I've had the Monstera for about 20 years now and this is the first fruit it has produced.

  10. Everything is looking lush and tropical there, Merle. The moth vine is lovely. I have never heard of it here. Glad Drummy is back on her feed. Too bad about Derrick flying the coop. Maybe someone will find him. I found my Cockatiel. He was an escapee and I found him on the roof and lured him with seed. Cats really are intense when they are hunting. I would hate to be a mouse. Hope you have a good week's end. xx Karen
