Busy and getting nowhere.

This will be Derricks new home his tail has grown so long it just doesn't fit in any parrot cage so he is getting a beer fairy special.
We have a floor and bit's of wood cut to size. wire, branches etc now all we have to do is put it all together, well wish us luck.

he says hurry up no he is waiting for his daily fruit it's green grapes today.
All my bathroom furniture is together.
A plumber parked his truck out the front of our place yesterday we thought he was for us as a friend of the beer fairy said he would send someone around but he was doing repairs to the place next door but we asked him a opion on our job, he was nice but boy was he odd, I showed him my vanity and his said he doesn't do wall waste outlets only floor, so he is out of the question as his idea is we don't use the one we want but buy another one to suit him. I asked him if he could give a idea of what the job would cost but he said he had no idea could be up to $10,000 DOLLARS, so I tried all the people I know and there is so much construction going on around here that they are all employed and busy at the moment so will try the local paper next week.
This is what my vanity looks like in the Ikea book, and it's made of wood not chipboard, the main reason why I want it plus I like it.

I will let you know how it all turns out.

I need a bex and a good lie down, do the still sell bex.
Bye for now...........

  3. Is a bex a beer? Construction calls for lots of beers.

    1. Bex is a headache powder from the 1950s here in Australia. Each powder came wrapped in a little bit of paper in boxes of a dozen I think; housewives were known to "have a Bex and a good lie down", it was part of the advertising jingle.

    2. So true but you know I don't think I have ever had one but the beer fairy is another story.

  4. Dear oh me, that's a dreadful price to be quoted. Definitely says he doesn't want the job, the cheek of him asking you to buy one 'he' likes!.
Your birdy will be happy in his new cage..

  5. Did your old vanity have wall waste or floor waste? Probably the cheapest option is to get something that uses the existing waste pipe. I hope the new vanity can be fitted soon without too much trouble. It looks nice.

    1. The old vanity was taken out many years ago when we put the spa in there was not enough room to put one in we we have lived without one for a number of years, so we have to start from scratch.

  7. Crikey Merle ... You need a bex alright! Or if you can't get a bex maybe a Vincent's. Mum reckons that took her back. Whatever that means! Good luck with the plumber. It's almost impossible to find a good one these days.

    1. It is a very old saying, your mum and I are showing our age but we came from a good vintage.

  8. A good lie down is always beneficial, but Bex led to many to many early deaths by kidney failure. There must have been something mood altering in the powder. My Tradie Brother is a builder and he hates working on existing homes. He would much rather build something new.

    1. Bex was popular with truck drivers many years ago, we had a friend who was very fond of them he gave up smoking and never went onto the harder stuff so he is very much alive and active more than most of retired truckers.
I think plumbers are the most needed of the trades and they know it.

Good grief!!! I wish you many blessings for finding a bloke who WANTS the work and who can work with what he's given. That is just astonishing...

Meanwhile, Derrick is looking gorgeous - and I have no doubt his new home will suit him very well indeed!

Bex ruined the kidneys of many an addicted housewife. Just the cuppa and nanny-nap will do! YAM xx

    1. It's always good to have tradesmen in the family but we don't have any so have to go outside to find them, my son has mastered all house things but lives in another state now and the beer fairy when young wasn't to bad at most things but plumbing involved a lot of swearing and throwing things.
Bex were very bad for the kidneys.

    1. We are not having a bath so that frees up a lot of room.
We live in a old house so kitchen and bathroom were not big rooms but we have a very large laundry for some strange reason but very handy for storage.

  16. It's really difficult to get workpeople around here, too. They keep saying a big recession is coming but it doesn't show yet. They also say another burst of all the bubbles, including the housing one but no sign of that either. Maybe it will be the hi before the low. Or whatever. LOL

Hope you find an honest, reliable plumber.
