We found a plumber and a fireplace

WE FOUND A PLUMBER
Hope he is a good one but you just don't know.
I didn't feel right about getting a picture of him, but I will somewhere along the track.
He is a older Australian and now likes the smaller jobs where the younger ones like the bigger better paid jobs and he works in copper pipes everyone now uses plastic as it is cheaper but not as long lasting and comes in many different sizes and all our pipes are copper so it's not so expensive to remodel the ones we got.
Now I've given him the job and agreed on a price rang all the other plumbers and cancelled their appointments the only problem we could have if he doesn't turn up again, that has happened before but I'm pretty sure this bloke will be ok.
While cleaning up down the side of the house a place where no one goes we found this old fire place,  I didn't know we still had it, the middle bit is around the wrong way the beer fairy informs me.
Derrick spent the day under the trees, nice and cool.

He will go up the top garden tomorrow.
This is the right way round, guess that does make sense, might use it as a garden thingie or put it on  E-bay.
Busy day today so bye for now.

  1. A neat old fire place. I bet Derrick drinks a lot of water these hot days. I just remember that from birds, when I had them.

    1. I don't how much he drinks as I change his water everyday but if you give him a biscuit or something dry he dunks in the water so we can have afternoon tea together.

That is a FAB firegrate - the sort of thing that can get a good few dollars at fairs and auctions these days - but I'd keep it and add to your wonderful, creative space!!! So glad you have found someone you like for the plumbing... here's to happy bathrooms! YAM xx

  5. I should think the fireplace would fetch enough for it to worth the bother. As the plumber is an older bloke, perhaps that means he will be more reliable.

  7. Hi Merle. Oh, I think the old fireplace would be great in the garden! Maybe with pink roses climbing up it? Susan

  9. An older plumber who works with copper pipes and knows what he is doing, is worth his weight in gold!, Your bathroom will be in safe hands and be magnificent when finished.

    1. We have a fireplace inside but not a open one they are not very good for heating but they sure do create a lovely feeling, I often watch the fireplace in winter much better than the TV.

  11. Love the fireplace, it would look amazing in the garden but would be snapped up if you put it up for sale. The plumber sounds great, I heard on the radio this morning you can check tradies credentials on the Fair Trading website where they list names of dodgy ones.

  14. That's a great old fireplace - people love those for decorating even without a chimney. Derrick has found a great home - lucky bird. Hope your plumber comes. I think the older guys do a better job anyway. Good luck. x K
