The beer fairy spends a few days in the country with the camera.

As you know we had a couple of weeks of rain so when Danny asked The beer fairy if he wanted to go up to his farm for a day or two he was happy to go for a change of scenery, as he was born and bred in country NSW he likes to visit but not to live there, to to to quiet.

This is Sydney at the moment,
And this is Mudgee no rain and no humidity.
The beer fairy playing a tune on his shovel.

This is Danny's front yard, he has 750 acres and he owns this farm with his father in law.
This is the farm house there is no electricity, no television only bottled gas and a generator and tank water, but he has a river and a natural spring so plenty of natural water.
 And sweeping views.
This is Old Bob's housekeper,  he lives in town and is 70 years old but Danny and the beer fairy went to visit, they took some food and had a bit of a chat and a meal as they were only staying for a day or two not worth taking to much with them.
Not sure what this is about, I just gave him the camera and said take some pictures so the beer fairy did .
This Old Bob and Danny He's the one laying down, he has a simular fashion sense to the beer fairy.
Back home I finished off the laundry the tool cupboard was returned.
Drummy came in for a look she was not impressed she turned around and walked back out again.
I hung up all our pliers and wire cutters I can never find then in the cupboard, I should paint the cupboard  well maybe one day.

    1. It's funny how one thing leads to another, it stopped raining for the last two days but more rain tomorrow maybe.

  4. Your photos are always interesting. Beer Fairy did a good job on getting some country-inviting picks. I was especially drawn to the farm house without the electricity. How I would love to live there. We do not realize all the radiation we are getting from our wi-fi's and cell phones and just all the plain old electricity. I spent a couple days, recently, in just such a place sans electricity, up in the mountains. WOW..... the inner peace and I had the best night's sleep I have had since I was a child. No kidding. Of course it might get pretty boring to live in such a place forever so I suppose everything is a trade-off. Radiation or boredom???? I love Drummy. I should post some pictures of my chickens..... but I never remember. Ha

    1. I love a break in the country but as you say it does get boring after a while as often it's very hard work but so peaceful.

  9. Looking at your laundry, see those little round air vent things in the cabinet doors? When did they stop putting those in? No modern cabinets seem to have them and I think they should. My own cupboards here all have damp musty odours, so I buy the "damp rid" buckets with crystals to absorb moisture from the air; the crystals shrink in the top section and the small bucket fills with moisture that would otherwise cause mould on my clothes and other things. This place has so much damp, I have a damp-rid bucket in EVERY SINGLE CABINET, kitchen, bathroom , bedroom. I'm sure it would make a lot of difference if all the cupboard doors had an air vent, but they are all laminate veneer or melamine so cutting a hole for one would be tricky, that stuff cracks and tears I've heard, not easy to drill or cut cleanly. I wonder if those air vents are even still available?
The floor looks lovely now it's finished and I like the farm photos. I wouldn't mind being out in the country as long as I had electricity for TV and computer.

    1. I know what you mean about the air vents, I too got a new kitchen a few years back and the new cupboards do have a smell about them, I often leave the doors open to air them out a bit.
The cupboard in the laundry was from the old kitchen, too good to throw out but not built out of chipboard so it will last forever, these new ones not so good.
Maybe there is a special drill bit for them but I haven't seen those round air vents in the shops for agers I don't think you can get them anymore.

    2. Maybe from salvage shops or restoration places. I'm going to check Bunnings first, maybe get my son-in-law to drill the holes if I can find the vents.

  10. Yeah Merle ..... red ...... paint the cupboard doors red like Aunty said, aye?? that'd look great with the black and white floor too. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Mudgee!! Mum has some great memories of Mudgee. She knows lots of people that came from there. They've all moved on now but for a while there she made lots of trips to Mudgee. Used to take the kids yabbying among other things. Mum wants to go and live with Danny for a while. Does he take boarders? I could come too. I'd take care of any rabbit problem he may have.

    1. I do like the idea of red too.
Danny doesn't live there, he lives around the corner from me with a wife and three kids, not much work up there and schools and shops are miles away, I think these farms are retirement places and holiday places, and they run a herd of cattle on them for extra income, a lot of people like the mixture of different lives
I sure you are a good rabbit capturer how do you go on foxes, they are declared pests now.

    2. Crikey Merle ...... I've NEVER come across a fox but I'd sure like to. I believe we whippets go with the beagles on fox hunts so I should be able to catch one.
