The Garden as it was many years ago with our three dogs.

This is the first year I have had flowers on my wisteria, they are planted in a large pot I'm not game to plant them into the garden as will go wild and take over.

but they are very pretty
And so are the roses

It's a very hot day and kidney has moved outside laying on crushed stone with a rock for a pillow I guess its cooler.

This is our garden twenty years ago once we had lawn.
 and tiny trees
But we had dogs this is peaches she was my dog, we met at the bus stop and she followed me home and moved in, had 13 pups, jumped all the fences and came and left when she wanted to but was always home for tea and when I came home from work. She lived with us for 17 years and I still miss her.
This little bloke belonged to a friend of ours and would never stay home so he gave him to us and he didn't want to stay with us either and ran away after a couple of weeks also ours dogs didn't like him.
Here are the three rogues together
 Nugget, Peaches and Mingo.
They wore out the lawn in a few months broke the clothes line, the beer fairy tired ropes so they could jump and pull on it for fun, it was very well received but the clothes line didn't survive, they were great dogs but now I'm to old for such active dogs thats why cats live here now.
I got one new thing last week this is a worm farm I setting up for the worms, the topsoil I had delivered is a bit nothing it needs help so that where the worms come in.
No more lawn now all pavers,  gardens and trees now.
Notice the door is still there but it has turned around the other side is orange

wWell that's it for this week, it's been a lazy week not much activity owing to the bad back but it is getting better and i'm moving around a bit better now.

  2. I am glad that your back is getting better. Take it easy.
Am I right in thinking Peaches had some German Shepherd in her? Love those dogs. I grew up with them.
I was given a worm farm for Christmas a few years ago. Brilliant. And the worm water feeds my plants very well.

    1. Peaches was a longhair German Shepherd a bit silly at times she rather liked eating flies, I have a cat that does that now, but she was very protective and I think they are the best dogs in the world.
You have a worm farm can I ask you questions if I have problems.

  3. Merle, your yard looked great with grass....... plenty of room for children and dogs....A lot of upkeep, though.....
I like the cool, green canopy of leaves and the secluded feel the yard has now...
    Hugs...

  4. I like the pavers, gardens and trees so much better than the lawn. More to look at, more interesting, more shade, which is so necessary in our summers.
    Hooray for worm farms!

  5. 'Yes we need all the shade we can get in summer and no mowing that's got to be a plus.

  7. I think your yard is a lovely riot of flowers and trees and unexpected nooks and crannies with pots of flowers and cheerful gnomes. And a bath tub of herbs....and everything. Glad your back is better.

  8. I adore wisteria but our climate won't let us grow it....it spreads like a vine but we'd never get any flowers.

  11. Here is hoping your back aches a little less Merle! Nice meeting Peaches and friends. They probably would be jealous of Angus (being your special dog and all!).
All the best and enjoy your little oasis,

    1. Angus gets on with most animals for a short time but gets a bit angry after a while after all he is a male and likes his own company.

  12. Hi Merle,

WOW! What a lovely yard you have....so relaxing and interesting! I would love the idea of no lawn as, up here, it can be hard to keep a lawn nice. It's a constant battle with weeds not to mention hot, harsh, and long summers. I dread our summers and now it feels like we barely have a winter. Pavers, trees, gardens, and lots of potted plants would suit me perfectly.

My daughter and son-in-law have a worm farm and they seem quite happy with it.

Sorry to hear you're dealing with back pain. I know how that goes as I suffer with back pain a lot and it can be quite debilitating at times. Take it easy.

Loved hearing about your doggy pals. We were brought up with German Shepherds as my parents bred and showed them. Great dogs. I'm a huge animal lover. :)

Thanks for dropping by my blog....always nice to 'meet' new friends. :)

    1. Hi glad to hear from you, because we spend so much time sitting in the garden we need it to be comfortable.
My son is starting a garden up there new house and all, they are having a Japanese type garden but might have trouble with the maples in the summer.
      Back is getting better now.

  14. It doesn't look like the same place. The wisteria should look really good in a year or so.

  15. It has changed a bit, the first year we were here it was just so hot in summer trees were a must.

  16. Love your doggie memories, Merle! Some do touch our lives and others stay for a short time, but they are all hard on a garden! Mine keep digging up my front yard lately to bury things. Love your yellow roses and the garden looks lovely. xo

    1. I still dig up old bones from when we had dogs and Peaches was the last to die and she died in 2006. The garden was just no go then.

  20. Oh, look at those yellow roses. They are so pretty. It's funny that you are in the spring right now, where here we are in full Autumn. Your garden looks nice, even though your dogs roam all around in it. I would love to sit and have a cup of tea and chat in your garden.
