A few days by the sea.

One day we checked out the ocean, rather cool there were two swimmers but there is always someone swimming, too cold for me even to get the feet wet.
It was on this stretch of beach where the young whale was beached last week, sadly he didn't survive.
A interesting table in one of the shops, we had a wonder down the Main Street, I liked a lot of the stuff in the shops but I travel light and didn't want to take to much back in the plane but I did buy some door knobs and two jigsaws.

Then off to the point to check out other areas we were looking to see if there were any whales they are travelling up the coast at this time of year but the weather was very misty, and we didn't see any sign of them.

But that afternoon the sun came out and we went for a walk around the neighbourhood. I would love this fern in my garden but maybe not hot enough for it here.
Lovely flowers
 in my sisters front garden
This is her back garden, I have always liked this back wall it holds back a lot of dirt and is very well made.

and some nice ideas these little bowls of water give the wild life a drink.

If you need a thong in a hurry there are a few laying around all different to fit in with what you are wearing.

Well I never here is a pair.

Well that's it I am home again now and it is bitterly cold at the moment, we are cutting wood this afternoon for our first indoor fire of the year.

Okay, I had to look back in case I had missed a post - but no; it's just that you took off and have had yourself a lovely sisterly visit. Well done! Whilst different, one can also see the similarities between you in the garden. It's cold here too. The 'heat wave' which only hit South of the border is long gone and we were in single figure temps today. Now I recall why I liked Sydney winters... YAM xx

    1. -8 at Bathurst the other night now that is cold for NSW and we are no-good with that cold, Sydney is warmer but not much, the days are sunny but still freezing cold.
My daughter and her partner had points to use they can't go anywhere at the moment so I went up to Coffs Harbour only for a few days but it was warmer and a nice break.

It seems that lovely and unusual gardens run in the family.
Chilly here too today. Sunny, but not warm.

  3. Crikey Merle .... we've been gone forever and those twins sure have grown, aye? Your sister and you have a similarity in gardening. Both so different but yet the same in some way or another or so Mum says. She loves the thongs idea. We might have to do that here. There's always someone turning up with no shoes.

  4. Lovely photos. We once had that ladybird on stick thing. Cool idea to have thongs around everywhere. The fern plant looks spiky, to me. Your sister does have a nice garden.

  5. The sea does look chilly, I wouldn't be getting my feet wet either, certainly not swimming.
Your sister's garden is very lovely.
Cutting wood will soon get you warm, even before you light the fire.

  9. The sea pictures make me long to visit the ocean, Merle. So glad you got to be there for a few days. Your sister's garden is as delightful as yours. So many things I like about it.....lovely ferns, stepping stones, and cute statues. Love that frog. : ) You both have a green thumb, and your gardens are a place to relax and enjoy. That red flower is soooo pretty.
