We are all winners and lots of rain.

A busy week this week so far, after a weekend of massive rainfall we had all May's rainfall and some of Junes in one weekend, lots and lots of leaves and a few broken branches and masses of wet firewood everywhere.  Lots of damage to the coasts from king tides, some of the very expensive houses lost their back yards and foundations, one even lost a swimming pool into the ocean why you would have a swimming pool when you you live on the beach is beyond me.
We didn't go to Bingo on Monday as no one was 100% and lots to do at home so we went Tuesday and we were all winners Barbara and I both won at bingo and her mum won on the poker machines now that never happens, well not much.
The club was full of dancers, local schools often have shows there but this was more like a final competition as all different groups were there, loved the pirates, so much noise and excitement.

We went for a walk around Bankstown after Bingo, I've never seen this statue before so we stopped to read all about why it was there.
I was after bamboo wool, very hard to get this year for the coming grandchildren it's lovely to knit and lovely to wear, good if you have skin problems it was in all the shops a few years ago no luck so far this year.
On the way home we called into a friends place .
I couldn't resist taking photos he has lot's of things of interest in his back yard, it's the middle of winter so the plants are not at their best, but this little lady cheers the place up a lot.

The wombat is in no danger the croc is a bit small.
You never know when you will want one.
Or a beer with a croc, he will want you for after beer snack.
I do love this table maybe not used so much in the winter good for barbques.

all his water bowls are full of fresh rainwater too.

Great little bridge so the ducks don't get their feet wet.

And a kangaroo hiding

The pond was very empty after all the rain, it has a leak.

Blue skies and sunshine on the way home
but didn't last long the sun was sinking very fast

That's all for today, talk to you soon.

  1. I like all the animals in your friend's garden. We have two of those concrete wombats on our balcony but both have damaged feet as they get kicked when visitors are looking at the views and not looking down.

    2. Put in your order for the wool to be sure it doesn't sell out before you get back to the shop.

  4. Sound that you had a great week. Enjoyed seeing all the carvings. They look beautiful. I sometimes use to wonder how people carve the images so perfectly as they look they are alive.

I don't understand how the council could or can permit houses to be build so close to the sea.

    1. I do agree, common sense tells you a king tide will damage the house, the people that own them pay a fortune to live so close, they are not too bright for buying them but now insurance co's will refuse payment and in this case I will not blame them, all the locals helped sand bag whats left of the foundations as more bad seas to come nice to see all working together.

    1. I think it will filter into the shops as it was a late start to winter not a lot of wool here at the moment, have you tried the banboo wool it lovely to knit with and wears well a lot nicer than all this acrylic that's everywhere at the moment.

I have the EXACT one in the backyard. Imagine! We live so far apart and yet the birdbath is the same. Unbelievable. Take care and have a nice day today. Thanks for your visits. Love them. Susan

  9. Fun to see all the surprises in your friend's garden, Merle! Like a little treasure hunt! Congrats to all for the wins. I only won once - such a good feeling. I have heard about the rain in the news. Lots of storms everywhere, it seems. So far we have had an unusually hot spring for rainy Washington state. Unbelievable about so many boat people losing their lives and all the lives lost in the war and afterwards....so sad. Hope it dries out for you there. x Karen

  10. That lady statue is so interesting with her long red hair. I like the koala also, and that bridge is so cute. A lot of areas are having heavy rain, and that's so strange in June. It sounds like you had a fun day at Bingo, Merle.

  16. Hello, Merle! Your friend has some cute critters in their yard. I love the koala. Wow, you had a lot of rain. The king tides sound dangerous for the people that live so close to the water. Enjoy your weekend and new week ahead!
