Autumn

In Autumn when the leaves do fall
And shadows lengthen on the wall
Flowers close their tiny heads
And tuck them in their cosy beds
Cooler mornings cold cold nights
But the days are still sunny and bright
Salads gone replaced by strews
Maybe time to drink more booze

I've written a poem, it's not too good but I like it

I am not having a good week with my cats, this is Snotts and she or he we still don't know has been fighting and has a wound over her eye but it's healing and she still will not let anyone too near her, she moved in with us about 3 months ago and is still very jumpy around people so I keep my distance so does the beer fairy he learnt the hard way, so their is nothing we can do for her but she has a comfortable bed and plenty of food.

This is a closer shot of her she must be starting to trust me I don't often get this close.

I been working in the garden today lots of leaves to rake up.

The trees are thinning out but still have a lot to go.

My choko vine is taking off.

This one loses all his leaves too.

A few flowers left

but they are few and far between

This is unkillable but it looks like I have managed it.

What about this sunflowers in late Autumn they are fake but they do cheer the garden up.

The maple is starting to brown up soon it will be naked.

These are fake too.

But this is real she is wonderful, she been flowering for ages.

  1. I like your garden very much. The second last photo with the light green creeper, I know that as swedish ivy, does it have another name? I had some in a hanging pot when I lived in Sydney and it survived many house moves before finally dying here in Adelaide. It got old and I didn't think to take a cutting and start it over. I love the little fairies and gnomes.

  2. To think, for you it is Autumn, and for us Spring is literally in full bloom! Do I detect Jasmine in your garden Merle?
Poor kitty! Better use your extra lenses (to focus) as this kitty is obviously not the lap kind!
All the best, (hoping you are feeling better?)

    1. Just a bit of jasmine but come spring the garden is alive with the stuff and I'm full of hay fever but it does smell great.
Yes thank you kitty and I are on the mend.

  3. How lucky Snotts is to have found a safe and comfortable home. And I love your bromeliad. Gorgeous thing.

  4. Love your poem, your wild cat and even your fake fkowers, but oh, that one at the bottom! Beautiful.Your response on my blog reminded me of my 6th grade teacher, Miss Weaver was always off topic and she told the most fascinating life stories about her travels with her mother.

    1. I am so glad you like my poem, the little wild cat is getting better and staying on my front porsch on her chair not wondering the neighbourhood as she was doing.

  5. Poor little kitty...hope that she's feeling better soon. If only they didn't get into fights.

Oh all the clean-up of autumn is arduous. Do the leaves turn brightly colored in autumn before they fall off?

Poetry is not something I work with very often. It's a challenge that's for sure!

  7. I like your poem-especially the last bit about drinking more booze-funny!
Your garden looks amazing-like your own little tropical jungle with so much foliage and flowers.
Poor cat, it's good she/he is starting to trust you a little. Glad her eye is healing.

    1. The flowers are mainly fake in winter when the Jasmine and the Jackrandra are flowering it's lovely but not good for hay fever well I guess you can't have everything.

  8. Your poem is cute - sorry about your poor kitty - I had a cat that would not let me pet her, only the boys and my husband. She hated women! (We found her abandoned...she came with baggage!)18 years I had her and she only let me pet her twice. I did love her just the same!
Autumn is always a little melancholy, but it looks like you still have some beautiful flowers to enjoy a while longer! xoxo

  10. Poor cat. I wonder if he had been abused since he is afraid of everyone. I love your new gray bedroom. I think it's very calming and matches a lot. Hope you have a good weekend.

    1. As she was very skinny when she moved in I think she has run away from her home because she was badly treated.
      I like the grey too.
