Gundagai, Tumut And Batlow on the way home.

We headed off about morning tea time it's a long drive and no one want to hit the peak hour traffic in Sydney.
This is the story of the dog on the tuckerbox  a quick comfort stop on the way home.

Very camera shy my son
needs a shave
Driving pictures
I think this it is so peaceful

This is Tumut railway station, no longer in use but it's a pretty little station.
I once caught the train down here many years ago, the beer fairy's brother was not long married and he was staying with his brother and his new wife and I came down for a weeks holiday we were only going out at this stage.
The trains were very small even then but they had hot boxes in them for your feet and a heater in the end of the seats, never come across this before or since, they were all steam trains and only ran once a day.

But that was a long time ago and the track is all filled in now.

We stopped off to get some apples from the orchard at Batlow

I liked the sign, never saw a soul so the honesty system must work.

A few more travelling pictures as you can see the weather is perfect again now we are going home.

  1. Apples straight from the orchard! You lucky duck you!
I've eaten apples and peaches, apricots too, picked straight from the tree, they're so much nicer than what you get from the supermarkets.

  2. I love that sign - and I bet most people are totally honest.

There is a book store in Ojai, CA that has bookshelves all along the outside of the building. People are supposed to toss the money into the box if they take something. It is been open far longer than I have been visiting so it must work.

  6. Batlow apples are DELICIOUS. Though they don't seem to grow my current favourite (Jazz apples).
You were very close to my neck of the woods - and I hope your trip was as wonderful as it looks.

    1. These apples are tiny red and very sweet not sure what they are, they had advertised pink ladies but these are different to the ones in the shops so I don't thing it was them.
I had forgot how cold it was in your neck of the woods but it was nice and crisp as it is now in Sydney, winter has arrived.

    1. They are great apples but pretty sure most of the time what we buy in the supermarkets are cold storage ones.
