An ode to AP

This was a poem written to my section where I  worked for a long time, it was written by a young fellow from UK that worked with us for a few months he was a great bloke and I just found it while cleaning up.
To all my friends at the NRMA
I thought I'd write a poem just to help me say
Thanks for my time spent with you all
I have made good friends and had such a ball
Now I'm sad it's time to leave
To continue my travels and more sights to see
So firstly to Merle who sits on Lourde's right
Oh it's such fun to watch her and Fred fight
Then onto Lourdes who's gone far away
Let's hope her caesar salad again has it's day
Claire my chum who I easily offend
Don't worry Claire your welcome to visit England
Loretta who I originally replaced
Oh what a glorious angelic face
But under that placid facade
Lurks a thief who holds no bars
To my right sits Pio all shy and quiet
But I'm sure he is capable of starting a riot
And Fred my father who's on holiday
He really doesn't hate you it's just something to say
And lastly to Jan the best of the lot
She really did show me what was what
To all of my friends too many to name
I miss you I thank you again and again
Lots of love and best wishes  ROB..................

You never know what you will find when you do a clean out.
Some old drawings from a long tine ago
None of these people look too happy.

    1. As I said we lost track but Lourds, Loretta and Jan have died since then and Fred and I have retired and I have no contact with work anymore as they were my best friends and it's just too sad a place now.

    1. Just about everything, Fred WAS A 50 odd from Egypt, who a idea that women should keep their place mainly under men, our section was mainly women so it got a bit lively at times, but we do know he was henpecked at home so we were all kind to him.

It is the rediscovery of such things that make the clean outs worth the effort! Those drawings are great Merle - recognizable through the eyes! I am quite keen on minimalism and your painting is looking good even now - to me anyway... a daub more here and there... but having seen other of your work am keen to see your view of it too!!! YAM xx

    1. You never know what you will find, I have found a photo very old and I just do not know the people in it so I asked the beer fairy and he is at a loss too.

  10. Those are wonderful drawings! I love the poem too:) It makes me sad that art has been taken out of the schools as part of the required curriculum. Not sure if it's the same in your neck of the woods but here, it's only offered in high school as an elective. Growing up, we had mandatory art classes!

    1. I did art at high school but it was a elective then but I think it is still pretty popular we have a big display of school art, it's called Art Express, they have lots of paintings all different styles.

  11. Oh Merle, I love these drawings, especially the first one of mother and child. You know, I don't have any artistic talent when it comes to drawing and painting, but my kids can all draw, and I wonder where they got it from. It's so nice that you kept the drawings all these years. I still have the ones that my son drew when he was younger and one that my mom did. Thank you for sharing these treasures today.

    Have a great week, Merle.

    love,
    ~Sheri

  12. You found some treasures, Merle - the poetry is wonderful and your drawings are very special. I wish I found such nice things when I do a clean out. I found some awful old shoes and some hideous purses. xo Karen

    1. I found some shoes too but I really liked them but they were just a bit to small and had never been worn but I guess my feet won't shrink so I gave them away and as for purses I only have one as I would take the wrong one and find myself out somewhere with no money, it happened before.
