A WEEK IN THE GARDEN WORKING, A KOOKABURRA AND OTHER STUFF.

THIS KOOKABURRA CAME TO VISIT THE NEIGHBOUR A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO, HE LAUGHS AND CHEERS US ALL UP BUT DOESN'T COME CLOSE.
THE DAY WAS CLOUDY AND BIT OF RAIN WAS FALLING ON AND OFF SO THIS WAS THE BEST I COULD DO.

FAVOURITE SPOT IN THE MORNING THESE TWO ALWAYS COME UP TO THE FRONT ROOM WITH ME FOR BREAKFAST.

IF YOU  LEAVE A PLATE AROUND THIS ONE WILL LICK IT CLEAN, SHE LOVES BACON FAT.

THIS IS OUR WET WEATHER SITTING ON BOX NOT FINISHED YET..

I HAD TWO TON OF TOPSOIL DELIVERED TO TOP UP THE GARDEN AND START A HERB GARDEN IN MY BATH.

THE BEER FAIRY TOOK THE PHOTOS AND I DID THE WORK HERE I AM STARTING OFF DOING ALRIGHT HERE.

THIS IS THE PILE DOESN'T LOOK MUCH BUT IT HARD WORK SHOVELLING IT.

I'M FILLING UP THESE BOXEX FOR A RAISED GARDEN, MAYBE VEGS THIS THE SUNNY SPOT OF OUR GARDEN, NOT MUCH ROOM IN THE BACK ANY MORE

THINGS ARE GOING DOWN HILL I'M GETTING TIRED AND THERE IS AN ANNOYING PRAT WITH A CAMERA  AROUND.

IF I IGNORE HIM HE WILL GO AWAY.

  1. I wish someone would turn the camera on me. I am always the one taking the photos, never being in them. Yes, a vege garden.

  2. What a lot of work. Wish I could easily lend you three kids.

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree
Merry, merry king of the wood is he...

We sang that when I was a kid. I thought a kookaburra was a kind of little koala. Now I must google up its song.

    1. They are part of the kingfisher family, and eat meat and insects, my niece feeds four that come in everyday, she lives in the country but in the city they are rare so I get a kick out of seeing them.
I need the exercise but it will be a long process, Julie across the road offered to help.

  3. I thought Kokkaburra sat in the old gum tree not a TV aerial!
Shifting soil is not fun.Have you noticed that by some weird quirk of physics that each load gets heavier?

    1. We do have a old gum tree a few houses up and he spends a lot of time there but you can't see him so he has to come down to the TV aerial to be admired.
      It is heavy stuff.

  6. Love it. I have discovered over the years that the blood, sweat and tears (mine) which go into the garden are worth it. By the time things bloom the exertion is a memory. Either that or I am a slow learner.
    That soil looked wonderful. Yay.

  8. If I knew where to put it, I'd use the old bathtub that's stashed in a storage/junk/dump room close to my flat. But the gardens are so full here. it would make a great herb/mini veg garden.
The soil looks lovely and rich.

    1. When I lived in a flat i had a garden on my balcony but I don't think it was allowed as time went on, they sold the flats and the new owners wanted the balconies kept clear.

  11. You did all the work!

I do all the work in my garden too.

We lost our dog a week ago (it is still hard), but our son's 2 cats are trying to comfort us. They were always cautious of "the beast" which is what we think they referred to her as. They quickly realized the beast was gone and have taken over. One of the cats now sleeps on top of us at night.

You said kookaburra. Where do you live?

    1. I quite like to do things, I only do a bit at a time. The body get sore quicker these days.
it's sad when you lose a pet but cats move in very quickly they don't let any opportunity slip by. I still miss my Peaches, she was a german shepherd.
      I live in Sydney, Australia.

The fellow with the camera has a ear problem and is a bit wobbley on his feet not to mention pretty deaf at this time, don't worry I will get some work out of him when he is better.

    1. The beer fairy has an ear infection and is a bit on the dizzy side so he can't bend down at the moment, he will fall over so he has to do some jobs when he is better.
