Cleaning up the back yard and the fallout from the bush fires

The chain saw is working well the little electric one is working and the shreadder.
It's been a busy couple of weeks and staying inside a lot more as the air outside is not the best at the moment.

This is the branch very much in the way you have to duck to get under it .

Also a lot of growth has stoped the sun
but this fellow was very much in the way so he had to go

Going

Going

almost gone

We have a gap now for the sun to shine through
We have also had many bush fires up the coast but the smoke has been invading Sydney
Usually you can see the blocks of flats at Auburn and the cranes but all wiped out by the smoke.
This tree out the front has just died  maybe old age it's been here for a long time so it was cut down too

This is my driveway  lots of work to shred it all
But this was the reflections from the skies from the bush fires
It only lasted for a few hours
But I was surprised as we are some distance away from the actual fires.

The sun was a big red ball

As it set behind my house

  1. Those reflections are amazing - and horrifying. I hope the air clears soon, and that the fires are over. I really hope for that.

    1. It was strange it only happened the one afternoon, we have had a bit of rain and wind so the skies are now clear.

That smoke can create the most amazing, stunning and yet fearsome effects - well caught as shadow and light my friend! Well done to the BF for the clearance. YAM xx

  3. The reflections are incredible and somewhat frightening. I hope the air has cleared now and what a lot of work you have done in the garden, with now some hard work for the shredder.

  6. I've been seeing the fires and the smoke on TV. We've had the same here, smoky air from the fires in the Yorke Peninsula, the winds blew the smoke all this way, but it didn't last long. Your garden will appreciate the extra sunshine.

  8. Sunshine to the backyard with out the trees, sometimes trees have to be trimmed or cut down. Being safe is a good thing.
I can imagine all the smoke and dust from the fires - we en counted raised dust when we were up north in winter.

  10. Those forest fires have been devastating. We usually don't get a whole lot of Australian coverage here, but recently we have been receiving a steady stream of updates on the fire situation. Fortunately it seems to be subsiding a little now, but it is still only spring and I am sure everyone is nervous for the hot temperatures of the summer and what that might entail.
